Hello, everyone, I will tell you some things that will amaze and shock you. I will tell you about characters in SSB64 and how some can have an advantage, and some have inconsistencies.
(I just wanted to include this. This may NOT have anything related to this)
Pikachu:
He may have the upper hand against most characters, but there are some, like Fox, Link and Captain Falcon, that can easily defeat him. His smash attacks are an average medium speed, because of his slow side smash, medium down smash, but fast up smash.
His special attacks average fast-slow, as his B and down B will slow him down and the attacks are slow. He has a fast, unpredictable recovery. It is not recommended to use neutral or down B to try and recover, as it could prove into a KO.
Though he is a small character, it would take an accurate bomb, boomerang, hookshot and side smash to KO him as Link. His worst match-up is Fox, as Fox would have the upper hand, or should I say U-air spam.
Pikachu's air attacks lag when going to the ground, making air time crucial to him. One miss with his d-air, and Pikachu could be sent flying by any character. This will happen with his f-air, too.
He is a rather floaty character, making him easy to KO from a fast and strong attack or meteor smash. His jumps base high, but he can be easily taken over and KOed in seconds if not careful.
He is good, but he does not deserve number one.
Kirby:
He is not very useful, as his recovery can kill him, his down special can, and his neutral special can kill him. His u-air is an attack not recommended to be used when sent far away, as it takes too long to use.
His five jumps can prove effective against Ness and DK, as he can use the rock attack. His jumps cannot be effective against Yoshi, Link or Luigi, as he can be attacked by the long ranged high jumpers.
His attacks, like his dash prove to be a spam, but useful effect. He has the fastest spamming dash attack in the game, and he can turn the tables with this attack. His smash attacks may be fast, but they are long and weak. He can be attacked by a longer range attack like Falcon and Donkey Kong.
This character has somewhat of the slowest average attacks.
Fox:
Let me make this fast. Fox is really amazing, his attacks are fast, his u-air is the best tactic along with his reflector attack. Against all match-ups, he, along with Link and Falcon, would be no contest as a win.
Captain Falcon:
He is an amazing character, as his attacks can cause damage, and they average fast. His u-air can spam for knockback and power, ending in either a Star KO or a blast with it. His special attacks are slow, but powerful. His combo speed makes it almost impossible for him to miss. He can also kill a character in 2 seconds under the right conditions.
Mario:
If Luigi is lower than him, and Mario is weaker than Luigi and more predictable, he should be as low as Luigi.
Yoshi:
He is amazing, but...every time he attacks after the second jump, he may fall to his doom, as he has no recovery, is very predictable and easy to attack, floaty, weak, and as such, he does not deserve that rank he has. He is worse than Samus.
DK:
Really, his slow attacks may be powerful, but still, he is the SLOWEST character overall. His recovery is horrible, much worse than Link's, and his Down Special has no airial attack. Any character can consider him one of the 2 punching bags.
Jigglypuff:
Weak, predictable, floaty, and horrible. She is the most predictable of any character, and can easily die at even 20% damage. When used, Jigglypuff to me is slow and horrible. She has no recovery, too long framed special attacks, weak attacks, and most of all, she is so annoying!
The only thing good is her throwing attacks and her f-air and b-air.
Ness:
Ness is an amazing character deserving a much higher rank than he does now. His attacks are pretty fast, and he has some of the best attacks. His special attacks, when used correctly, can be useful.
Say an enemy is near the stage's edge, and Ness uses his normal special and hits him/her. The effect of it would be that the character is trapped and cannot recover, or has less chance of recovering back.
His PK Thunder can have devastating consequences against other characters. Not only is it long range, it blocks out all characters attacks and sends them flying.
He can also create pretty fast combos, seeing as all of his attacks are fast.
Link:
Truly, no other character can match his attack speed and power. His attacks are incredibly fast and powerful at the same time, with his air attacks being the fastest in the game average. His ground attacks take much less frames than one would think.
His special attacks are intended to be used this way; the boomerang and bomb have to be used at the same time as well as the spin attack.
Link can create devastating amounts of damage in seconds and they have incredible knockback and less hitstun. If you use a side smash then his f-air, it will range 34%, and if you use the spin attack as a finisher, you can KO an opponent before 50%.
When using his d-air, one must ALWAYS keep tapping A while the attack is still going to create 34% damage, and his d-air is the strongest air attack, and third strongest overall. (Being beat by contact via PK Thunder and DK's Giant Punch)
Link can continue using his b-air and kick the hell out of characters. He can keep going and going until the other character is far away and predictable, or the other character has been spiked by a stage hazard, like those blue things on Peach's Castle.
If you use Link correctly, he is actually one of the BEST characters, and deserves number 1.
Luigi:
He deserved it, although I play as Luigi. He should at least be higher.
Samus:
She deserves her spot at bottom because of her slow, weak and horribly inaccurate attacks. Women!
