No, you don't need to jump cancel an upsmash, you can do an upsmash out of a dash or shield.

And wavedashing came from the fact that you are moving, as if in a dash, except theres that wave below you, from the airdodging into the ground.

Okay thanks. I also have a few questions about the skidding stuff.

As you're skidding, JUST as you start dashing again, use the C-stick to fsmash in the opposite direction you're now facing, the direction you were originally dashing. If you time it JUST right, you'll slide across the ground in the direction you were going to dash very slightly, and f-smash at the same time, kind of like a retreating F-smash. Unfortunately, the game won't allow you to f-smash forward, but the retreating one has mindgames of its own. You can actually do this with dsmash, upsmash, all tilts(although to do a forward tilt you need to press forward twice during this, or set your C-stick to attack)and even your jab. The F-smash is probably the most useful use of this though.

How far backwards do you really move?
Is it really useful?
Is it a LOT different that this?

If you WANT to do a F-smash in the same direction you skid, you can stop the skid by doing something similiar to a pivot smash. Basically, as soon as you start skidding, you just have to press <>< at the speed required to do a dash dance, and then F-smash in any direction, as this will cancel out the skid into a dash dance instantly, and the dash dance will be cancelled into the F-smash. This is good for dealing with any issues which pop up, like an enemy who approached sooner and faster than expected, or a projectile.

How far does this go compared to the backwards one?
And do you HAVE to use the C-stick smash?

Pivot smash is pretty hard to do consistently. The timing is weird. It is definetly useful though i was messing with it in training.

1. Try it yourself.
2. Concievably.
3. Yes.
4. About twice the distance, but it takes longer.
5. No, its just easier I find.

EDIT: Yeah, I can do it consistently now, but it took me so long. I can even do pivot smash out of skid reliably now. They're really really useful, in my opinion.

Another double post? Gawd, somebody post here besides me for once.

I changed the pivot smash info, found out I was wrong about the backwards flick part. So, this makes it much easier to both explain AND do. Yay.

Well, I'd like to try a reverse dashing fsmash and see the distance I travel, but is it really far? Cuz either Im doing it and cant tell or Im not doing it. You said something about the timing and I cant really tel if Im doing it right.

So can you please tell me about how far you slide when you do it?

about half of Ness's initial dash. My advice is to keep trying to F-smash later and later, if you dash attack you're doing it too late. Get it until you're doing it JUST LATE ENOUGH so you're still F-smashing.

Okay I can do it, but I am annoyed right now over the ontrol scheme and need some advice.

First off, you said this reverse dash fsmash is possible without the c-stick right? I tried it and failed, so I had to use the c-stick. Is it really doable in a match or do you need like inhumane reflexes?

Why am I so broken up about this? Because I set the c-stick to specials. This allows me to wavebounce err... b-stick (I use this on the ledge a lot) and a MUCH easier and seemingly more effective RAR (see an earlier post of mine).

So, would you say that this is enough to make one such as myself who is accustomed to b-sticking off the ledge and RARing with the c-stick want to change the c-stick back to smashes?
Sorry, that might have been hard to read. Basically, is Reverse dash Fsmashing more important than b-sticking and RARinng combined?

RARing is my deepest concern. The momentum from a dash doesnt seem to carry over as much when you use the control stick compared to the C-stick

Oh, it's possible, but its hella hard. I DON'T reccomend it.

The momentum carries almost 100% if you're fast enough.

But whether its important enough to stray from B-sticking, that's up to you. You could always switch D-pad to Smash.

In your post, the second line, are you refferring to RARing with the control stick or reverse dash fsmashing (can we get an acronym here?) momentum?

And even if it does carry the momentum, it just doesnt feel as smooth and quick to me. I always get that little backstep from turning around before I actually short hop/

And I tried switching the D-pad to smashes. Apparently, only the C-stick takes smashes. Nothing else will. And if I cange the d-pad to special, it doesnt have the same characteristics of the c-stick. It acts like a button

Man... I hate when things dont go your way :urg:
