Posted this on AiB, reposting for SWF even though the Link boards here are dying :/
--------

I personally find Link's arrows to be extremely underused and underrated. They are actually very versatile and can come in handy quite often. In this thread I'll go over a variety of ways in which you can make use of Link's arrows.

Here is the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3MI_FFqJfU
Below are the descriptions for each of the tactics shown in the video

Part 1: Arrow Cancels

Quick Draw: Link shoot's an arrow with no startup lag.
How to perform: While airborne, input the arrow command a few frames before landing on the ground.

SHFF Quick Draw: Link jumps and instantaneously performs a quick draw.
How to perform: Jump, then fastfall and immediately shoot an arrow. Very difficult to perform consistently.

Double Arrow: Link shoots two arrows in the air, the second is a quick draw.
How to perform: Full jump, shoot the first arrow as you rise and the second immediately after.

Triple Arrow: Link shoots three arrows in the air, the third is a quick draw.
How to perform: Full jump, shoot the first arrow as you rise. Double jump as soon as possible and fire two consecutive arrows.

Ledgehop Arrow: Link quick draws an arrow off of a ledge jump.
How to perform: Drop from the ledge and use your double jump to get onto the stage, fire an arrow upon landing.

Part 2: Arrows in Combination with Other Moves

Bomb Pull to Arrow: Link plucks a bomb and fires an arrow in the same jump.
How to perform: Do a full jump and pull out a bomb as soon as possible, fire an arrow upon landing.

Boomerang to Arrow: Link hurls his gale boomerang and fires an arrow in the same jump.
How to perform: Do a full jump and throw your boomerang as soon as possible, fire an arrow upon landing.

SH Bair to Arrow: Link uses a bair and follows up with a quick draw.
How to perform: SH and bair as soon as possible, fire an arrow as you land.

Fair to Arrow: Link attacks with his fair and follows up with a quick draw.
How to perform: Full jump and fair as soon as possible, fire an arrow as you land. The frames are very strict here, practice getting the fair off quickly.

SH Bomb Throw to Arrow: Link jumps and launches both a bomb and arrow.
How to perform: With a bomb in hand, SH and throw the bomb. Follow it up with a quick draw.

Bomb-Arrow Cycle: Link jumps, throws a bomb, plucks out another bomb, and quick draws as he lands. Because you end with a bomb in hand, it sets up for consecutive uses of the Bomb-Arrow cycle. Great for camping.
How to perform: With a bomb in hand, SH and throw the bomb, immediately double jump and pluck out another bomb, then arrow cancel as you land.

Part 3: B-Reversals and Offstage

Backwards B-Reversal: Link jumps backwards and shoots an arrow in the direction of the jump while completely reversing his momentum.
How to perform: Do any kind of backwards jump (i.e SH, double jump, Full jump). Hold back until you reach the apex of your jump or later and fire an arrow. Push the analog in the opposite direction IMMEDIATELY after inputting the arrow command.

Forward B-Reversal: Link jumps forward and shoots in arrow in the opposite direction of the jump, while completely reversing his momentum.
How to perform: Do any kind of forward jump. Hold forward until you reach the apex of your jump or later and fire an arrow. Push the analog in the opposite direction immediately after inputting the arrow command.

B-Reversal Quick Draw: Link performs a quickdraw and gains a slight slide as he lands. Best done off of a SH.
How to perform: Jump, and perform a b-reversal (backwards or forwards) right before you land.

Ledge Drop Arrow Edgeguard: Link will drop from the ledge, fire an arrow away from the stage, and return back to the ledge.
How to perform: Drop from the ledge then double jump. Once you reach around where the ledge is, push away from the ledge and press B directly after. Proceed to recover with Up B.

Ledge Jump B-Reversal: Link will ledge jump and shoot away from the stage while moving towards the ledge.
How to perform: Jump from the ledge and B-reversal an arrow once you reach the peak of your jump.

There are limitless ways to make use of Link's arrows. Mix in B-reversals in different ways (perhaps even for recovery?) and explore all your projectile options as they are the foundation of Link's game.

Hope you learned and enjoyed.

Good stuff Bengals.......it's too bad that these boards are so dead though. I still don't reallly feel that there is much reason to use arrows at all, these tricks can look flashy at times though and can add a little style to your game.

Well, most of those are in the book guide for Link at the top of the board, but some aren't, like ledge-hopped B-reversals etc. Still though, these are all really good to know and master, especially the quickdraw. After you learn quickdraw and shff'd quickdraws, (and b-reversal) everything else is really easy.

My favorite has got to be the ledge dropped arrows though.
