Adding video clips to photoshop?

I just have a few questions about adding a video clip to a photoshop signature:

1. What format is best? (When I make my clip into a .gif, it ends up all choppy and... bad)
2. Is Gimp better or worse for this?
3. Do I need to have Imageready? Is there a way to do this without Imageready?
and most importantly...
4. How do I do this?

Any help would be fantastic, thanks in advanced.

Why was the Q&A thread closed? I was going to start a new thread, but conveniently, I'll just ask here seeing as my question is somewhat similar.

I want to add a moving gif into my sig.

That being the image in question, with my sig below.

My problem is I can't "use" the gif. The animation window just gives me the first frame and I can't get it to "play." I'm really just stuck with a photo of the first frame of the gif.

Help?

I'm not sure if there's a better way of doing it, but here's how I did it.
Put the video in Windows Movie Maker (I know it sucks), took a picture of each individual frame. Then I put each frame as a different layer into Photoshop, went in animations options, and essentially made a gif out of them. Just make each animation layer the next frame, and it should work.

Hope that helps.

'kay, so I've managed to grab all the individual frames and have them as layers atop each other in PS.

Problem is, they're all in random order.

:freak:

I really don't want to fit all 143 frames in order. I'm looking for some easier way to this...

You might have to. I did, and yes, it took a long-*** time.
