About unnecessary movements

I tend to short hop alot impulsively, dash dance when my opponent is grabbing the ledge, to bait out a shield or get up attack.
But I feel like these extra movements hinder my decision making; I second guess myself sometimes, when it's better to engage head on, as these extra movements ironically gave the opponents more time to react.

Should I keep my jittery fox playstyle, or go for one that's sure and steady?

sure and steady, or just rushing straight in, is pretty predictable and once your opponent learns your rythem they'll have a much easier time with you.

playing jittery, running in and out without your opponent knowing when you are gonna commit to an approach is a much better way to play in general.
Just make sure you are watching your opponents character instead of yours and use foxes quick speed to punish them when they whiff stuff (which they should if you are dancing around them right)
Baits are great if you know how to use them.
