Whenever I play fox for too long, my right thumb starts hurting really bad, and I see that the skin is breaking away from JCing shines. This is probably partly due to me using X to JC shines/waveshine. If my thumb didn't hurt so **** much, I would probably play fox as a second.

Anybody have a similar problem/solution?

Only when i practice and don't mix it up. When i practice multishining for more than a few minutes, i can lose feeling in my thumb, and practicing drillshine infiniting can also be a real source of pain. Fortunately, this sort of thing doesn't happen in matches or long amounts of play because you aren't doing the same thing over and over again, giving your thumb a break. If your thumb starts hurting while practicing, just take a break for a few hours, and the motions your thumb learned are still there w/o the pair/ tiredness.

****it scotu, you and your technical practicing =p

I've found that my thumbs hurt less now than they did in the past since my hand feels a lot more relaxed when i perform most techniques now and because of the callouses that i've acquired. I've more recently found my knuckles to hurt after a long tourney or smashfest.

Just keep doing it and eventually you'll feel nothing. *Keep training your fingers

That's not the problem. I'm talking about my skin breaking away from sliding over the buttons.

My fingers never hurt even if I'm playing all day...this might be from being so good at FFR lol. And I use my index fingers just as much as my thumbs so I mean >_>..

you're prolly just doin it wrong. you shouldnt think of it as a slide... think of it more as a glide ^^, just be gentle with your pad.... treat it like you'd treat angelina jolie.... (but not too much like that :p)

The only way to cancel a shine within a very short amount of time with the X button is by sliding your fingers across... unless you claw I guess.

The Claw isn't necessary, you could use y to make the make it go faster, unless you're talking about waveshining, i can go fast enough just by lifting my thumb. That isn't much of a problem. After a while, moving your thumb w/o sliding for waveshining becomes elemental and very quick to do. For multishining, i only slide my thumb from y>b, not even the other way around. unnecessary.
