A way they should unlock one of the characters...

What if for, say, 30% of the people who bought Brawl, MegaMan was unlocked upon turning the game on. Then, for the rest of 'em, whoever beat someone using Megaman, via, the WiFi got Megaman to play as his or her own.

Any thoughts?

Character: no. This idea *could* work possibly with a sticker or trophy, or anything really that isn't as crucial to the gameplay as a stage or character.

what about having 2 different skins of the 1 charater. say (using megaman again) they had a move set which would satisfy both classis and X, and 1/2 the games get X, and 1/2 get classic, and you can only unlock the other skin online, like you described, that way no "i have no internet and don't have him"

dixie and diddy, having nana dominant, pichu, girl pokemon trainer would be able to have this done with current known characters, i'm sure some yet-to-be-revealed ones could do it too.

so you only unlock an alternate cosmetic.

Thats a terrible idea lol. What about the people who just don't care about online play enough or people who don't have access. If anything like that did happen I'm sure a lot of tournament goers would take care of it rather quickly. (there are a lot in north cal where I live) But its just not practical.

Sry, but unlocking characters online won't feel right. I like unlocking them through playing the game (singleplayer) because people would mostly likely skip a game or event if they have all the characters unlocked already (idk my opinion). I think it would be better if like the stages and charcters would be unlockable by playing different games (homerun, events, classic and adventure mode, etc.) and/or getting achievements (like 4 stock a cpu on lvl 9)

This would be very interesting, It also brings to my attention, that some people will be unlocking super secret characters and jump onto Online with them, so that many people may get to glimpse them before they unlock them themselves

i hope that when you play online that all the characters are availible like in strikers, but i doubt it. what would really piss me off is if you have to play x amount of games to unlock someone like mewtwo was in melle. give a challenge, not play 237462783648273468273462 1 stock games
