Hey, many of you from the NSider Forums at Nintendo.com are familiar with me, and a way while back, people seemed to be liking my Stage Editor idea, so I'm here to present it to you "Smash Board-tizens"...
So let's get to the matter at hand...
Here's the main menu when you first open up the mode.
Edit Current - Edit and work on the current stage that is opened.
Save Current - Saves the current stage that you have open currently.
Open Saved - Opens a stage that you've already saved before.
Reset Current - Resets the current stage you're working on, making it a blank stage.
Stage Options - Select multiple settings for the stage, such as music, brightness of the stage, a name for your stage and even choose a pre-made stage.
Exit - Take you back to the Main Menu screen.
Since you get the gist of most of the modes, I'll present to you how the "Edit Current" mode will work.
So let's add some platforms onto your stage to fight on!!
While in this mode, choose the type of platform you wish to place. After you select that, choose a specific platform from that type you wish to insert. After that, the menu will dissappear and you'll get to place your platform mostly anywhere on the grid. When you place it, you're able to tilt, enlarge or minimize the platform. This is only used for small platforms, though.
Base Platforms - Platforms that cannot be passed through and are meant to take up the majority of the space. The large, pink platform would be a base platform.
Solid Platforms - Platforms that aren't that large, but can't be passed through, either. The metal futuristic platform is a Solid Platform.
Pass-Through Platforms - Platforms that can be jumped or passed-through.
Moving Platforms - Platforms that scroll in a certain path. Certain platforms have set moving trails, so place them where they'd best fit in.
Special Platforms - Unique platforms that vary in shapes and sizes. Examples are a tower with platforms sticking out of it, a statue carrying a platform or a pulley with two platforms on either side.
Okay, since you seem to have that down great, let's set some start points!
Player Start Points - Where players will start. When you choose this option, you'll be able to select where P1, P2, P3 and P4 will start at on the stage. You cannot finish your stage without this.
Respawn Points - Set where the revival platform for revived characters will appear.
Item Spawn Point - Set where items will appear on the stage.
Hazard Spawn Rate - If you have a spawning hazard set in your stage, set how often it will appear. I'll explain the hazards later.
K.O. Boudaries - Set how far and near the K.O. Boundaries are.
Okay, so let's get on to some Hazards
Stationary Hazards - Add hazards on the stage that won't move on the stage. Examples would be cacti, pitfalls, etc.
Moving Hazards - Add hazards that move in a certain trail, such as spinning spike balls.
Stage Effect Hazards - Add hazards that occasionally activate on the stage at a set amount of time (See "Hazard Spawn Rate" under the "Add Start Points" mode), such as the falling bouldars depicted in the picture.
Background Hazards - Add hazards that are in the background, such as Arwings flying towards the stage shooting.
Pit Hazards - Set hazards to place at the bottom of the stage, such as lava or a spikes.
You don't want a gridded background, do you?
Generic Backgrounds - Basic backgrounds, such as the Starry Sky background in the picture.
Moving Backgrounds - Backgrounds that have lots of action going on in them, such as armies fighting.
Scrolling Backgrounds - These can only be selected if you turn the Scrolling Options on. this will be explained later.
Smash Bros. Backgrounds - Backgrounds that are used in the Smash Bros. games.
Special Backgrounds - Unique backgrounds that are... Special.
There's no need for a picture to explain the scrolling options. Basically, you will set whether the stage will scroll up or down and the speed, that's it...
So now that you have a basic understanding of it, I'll explain a little more...
How would you get this mode? Well, you'd have to unlock it, of course. Something like, unlock all stages first.
After getting this mode, there will be 5-10 blank stages at the bottom of the selection screen. Once you save a stage, it will appear here for you to fight in!
Of course, you don't get every single part of the Editor from the start. Half of the parts you'll probably start with, while the others you'll have to unlock from playing modes and playing certain amounts of VS. matches.
So, that's basically the gist of it... Tell me what you think
