Before you start

Players Select their Characters
Before the first match, any player may request a Double Blind pick to prevent possible character counterpicks at the CSS screen before the first game.
In a double blind pick, players each whisper their character choice to a 3rd party so that the other player will be unaware of their opponent’s character selection. The 3rd party then states what character each player picked.
Once the double blind pick is concluded, a player may not change characters before the first match (normal counter picking process is still in effect after Game 1).
Stage Striking For 1st Game:
Players will begin by striking from the starter stage list.
The stage remaining after striking is complete will be played on for the first match.
Players then select characters and begin the first match.

Stage Counter Picking

The winner of the first match may choose to ban two stages that may not be played on for the next match.
The loser of the first match will then choose the next stage from the remaining stages.

Ranked Money Match Rules
  1. At least $10 must be put on the line, or a reasonable equivalent (such as a controller).
  2. Must be a Best of 3, Best of 5, or Best of 7 set.
  3. Character locks are optional, but all other rules must be in line with what’s listed in the document.
  4. At least one person not involved in the match must serve as a witness who reports the results of the match to the panel.
Sudden Death
If a match reaches a timeout, the winner is decided by stock count.
If stocks are tied, then the player with the least percent damage will be declared the winner.
If both the stock and percentage is the same for each player, then a 1 stock, 3 minute match will be played.
If a match is concluded with a suicide move (Ganondorf Side+B, Kirby Inhale, etc.) then the player who executed the suicide move will be declared the winner.

Miscellaneous Rules
  1. Gentleman’s Agreements to illegal stages (such as Skyloft) are not allowed.
  2. Dave’s Stupid Rule (In order for you to go back to a stage that you’ve already won on earlier in the set, your opponent must agree to allow it) is optional.
  3. All rules regarding suicide moves are completely up to the TO, and they must be clearly written in the tournament’s ruleset.
  4. For brackets, you must be able to record game numbers (whether a match went 2-1 or 2-0 should be recorded). Exact game counts will be considered for the PR.
  5. If a player is disqualified for any reason during a tournament, make sure that the DQ is recorded appropriately on the bracket.
