Yes... A PRoom contest.

Alright, there aren't that many options for a PRoom contest so the best I could come up with is a comic strip contest. Don't like comic strips? Stop reading this thread now and get the hell out. Interested? Continue on my friend.

The PRoom is generally known as a place where members can go to make fun of other members and usually, it's the intelligent members that make the best jokes when they make fun of below-******** PRoomers. So we have a few comedic masters among the endless sea of failures.

Comic strips are a quick way to express a descent joke or scene. So that's why we are doing this. Below, you will find how this will be graded.

Scraped that idea... Instead each judge can give out a maxium total of ten points based on whatever criteria they see fit. Like true judges...

So a person's maximum score can be a 30.

Additional Rules

- No extreme violence. If you're cool, we might let you do it though. PM one of the judges for permission and we'll decide whether or not to allow it.

- No nudity, EVER. I don't care how cool you are, absolutely NO nudity.

- PENMANSHIP! PENMANSHIP! Let us KNOW what you are saying in those conversation bubbles! We need to be able to read them!

- Submit your comic in the "Submission" thread that I am going to set up here in a second. DON'T make a new thread with your submission. That's a waste of space.

- Deadline: 6-30-07 , 11:00 P.M. Central Time.

- Feel free to enter as many times as you want.

- There is no prize for winning. I'm not going to give out a premium prize because PRoomers don't really deserve that. I might if the winner's submission is cool enough though. However, the PRoom mods might reward you out of the kindness in their hearts (LMFAO!). So yes, this is a contest that is just for fun.

- Judges: Uncle Kenny, Virgilijus, dr.neo

- Add your comic strip here: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=104264

I'm in. Are we allowed to copy and paste from pre-existing works made by other people, or does this have to be all ours 100%?

Something to do in Spanish class, at least. ^_^

Color is a BS criteria. "Art" makes more sense. A lot more. If Frank Miller entered our contest would you complain about not enough color? Yes, yes you would, but then he'd smack you across the Internetz and give you to his old cellmate Bubba, giftwrapped and with a red bow, for that one time he forgot his birthday.

I think its absolutely ridiculous that you are giving points for adherence to additional rules some of which are completely arbitrary and say nothing about the quality of a work.

The number of panels being a case in point.

When I heard about this contest in the broom I got a little excited because I have drawn some comics back in my day; looking at the nature of it now Me thinks not so much.

Please keep in mind this is not in any way a complaint.

this is me saying **** you.

Also, comics don't HAVE to be funny.

Really, I would just call this a call to PRoomers to make some comics, not make a contest out of it.

single panel comics are my favorites and are the most funny to me because of the thought involved.

Basically I agree with everyone else. and I think comedy should be MOST of the points.

I think, if this goes well, then there should be a monthly comic contest, or something. Each of which has a different genre. Comedy, politics, tragedy, etc... winner of previous contest gets to pick... yadda yadda.

Comic with your power, or something stupid like that.

As for myself entering, it's a 50:50.

I was under the impression it was a comic strip contest, not a graphic novel contest.

but Garfield proves Bahamut's point, anyway.

It's Uncle Kenny's contest so he can make any criteria that he wants. If you don't like it then don't enter it.

Why? Because this is how the real world works a lot of the times, you have to work with someone else's standards, even when they significantly diverge from your own.

I made one and I dont even own a computer. I made it in paint in like 10 minutes. Thats all you need for a funny comic. Not saying mine was anything special but its a start.

I for one, would love to join this contest. It sounds like a great idea, but I'm not that creative when it comes to comics, nor do I have the resources to create one. I shall remain a bystander.

Ugh... I expected a lot more negativity and I'm glad that's not the case. :p

@Varuna: I made the criteria up in about five seconds. I know the guidelines and everything aren't that good yet but that's the jeist of what this contest is about.

I'll fix it up as soon as I think of different criteria. Though I agree with Evil Eye's complaint.

Oh, and f*** you too.

@Virgilijus: If you want to, then you're in.

And if you set really crap standards, nobody will work with you.

No I don't, and I'm not going to; I thought I was clear on this.

EDIT: just noticed uncle kenny's

If you made the criteria up in about five seconds, and you know that the criteria is crap, why oh why would you post it and tell people not to complain about it? I blew you off because that was all I could do, thats all anyone can ever do when they are told crappy rules that they are not aloud to complain about.

Its asinine.

I didn't ask not to add your opinion, I asked not to b****.

Nowhere in there did I say, "don't offer your opinion". I simply want you to offer your opinion in a non-b****ing way.

There are three judges: Virg, neo, and me.

*insert really drawn-out rant of disappointment here*

That failure of a debug guide came back and haunted me.

My opinion is that you need to think real hard about what you just said.

That, and that the criteria for a contest like this should be such that it would leave room for styles and personal preferences IE not requiring a crap load of panels and color AND OR affected by

"Meh... (5 pts.) - Our personal opinion on your comic in general or you in general. The PRoom is about thoughtless judgements and ridicule."

Ask any fool, the only real value of a funny is to make you laugh; if its poorly drawn, has no color, and only one panel, it still has the potential to induce fits of luls. if you want proof of this read "The Far Side."

Opinions are strong , saying that no *****ing is aloud is the same as saying "I reserve the right to totally dismiss and pee on your opinion."

There thats my opinion, I dare you to say its not complaining, and I dare you to say that this is for the Proom again.

It's supposed to be something fun for the PRoom.

PRoomers should be used to crap by now. Unless you would like to completely revise the criteria yourself, you might as well just shut up.

I don't care who's right or wrong. You probably are right but so what? It's a stupid comic strip contest. Not a beauty pagent.

Tera's fine with all the rules (however she's got no drawing talent) but, where's the comics?

On second thought... criteria isn't what I should be doing for a contest like this so we're going to treat this like one of those talent competitions you see on t.v. and have standard, 10/10 grading styles.

Meh... Less complicated that way.

Edit: "Irrelevant Message"

Wow... I curse a lot...
