I was thinking about setting up a smash fest in this house a family friend owns, its empty and in good shape, has electricity and running water and i got permission to use it. the place is like 5 mins from UMBC, and like 10-15 mins from btree's house. we would need to get at least 7 more set ups cause i would only have like 2, i have to get some folding tables/chairs in there for people and setups. it looks like around 100 people could fit in there and about 15 setups at least. the entry fee would be around $5 -$10 because i am planning on having a $hit load of snacks and drinks set up in each smash room. we can set up tourneys, although i have no actual software for it, i would need someone with good software to hook me up. we can prolly get some music set up too. im looking for advice on dates, pricing, times, snacks, drinks (NON-ALCOHOLIC), setups, ect. to see if this can actually work out... i hope it does cause it would be 1337. people would also be able to crash inside, because there will be a good amount of space, i would advise sleeping bags and stuff, i will probably stay the night too.
i mean, this could work out really well, i just need to plan it accordingly.
i should also think of a name i guess ._.,

go look at the stickies about hosting tournaments. Specifically, things such as dates, pricing, times, food etc are decisions that should be made by the host. Not everything you do must be asked or taken a poll of to decide what is good. If a lot of people have a problem with your date or something then you can change it.
Anyway, sounds like a neat idea and I wish you the best of luck.

If you hold a tournament this close to me, I can bring my Cube, two copies of Smash, at least one television, and my laptop with tio tournament organizer. If someone transports me anyway. Otherwise I can bring everything but the television and probably help you set-up. Check the calendar and tournament discussion to make sure that any date you pick doesn't affect your turnout..

ok, so a family friend sounds like a very distant relationship lol. Are they really cool with a bunch of college age smash nerds coming in and playing all day/night? What's in it for them besides a massive cleanup?

It does sound like a lot of fun. I take it the family friend is only willing to do this once?

Just pick a date when no one else has something major planned. This looks like something that would work well in late May or June. You might consider a Friday/Saturday all day event.

Is this a mansion?????? How many square feet is available? Like 5000?

I hope this goes down and makes a fun event. Good luck with it.

sounds good @ btree, i might be able to drive you there... its on N. catons ave. so like... yea..

uhh, it's one time cause the house is going to be sold soon (a few months prolly). im not sure about the size but it has like 4-5 seperate living units, each with its own bathrooms kitchens and bedrooms... and each bedroom is like 2x the size of btrees main room.
-_- i think that should be big enough...

well, its more me seeing if people are interested, cause if there is like too little demand, then i might not set it up at all, i mean, its suposed to be for like at LEAST 50 people... im not going to set it up and have like no one want to go...
50 is quite a lot. I suggest making an entire tournament. Make it 10 dollars for singles and 20 dollars per team. Venue-whatever.

Hype it up.

Yeah you gotta hype this event up a lot. Make the entrance fees big so people will come from all around east coast. $10 for singles and $20 for teams at the minimum. Just MD/VA can bring out at least 50 people; we saw that at the last UMBC tournament with 49 people.
