The protagonist main monster, the heart of his cards, the ace up his sleeve, one of the most powerful spellcasters. Smash Brothers needs an actual magic user, Robin uses a sword, and when :4robinm:does cast a spell :4robinf: drops the book.
Just like :4mario:Vs :4sonic:, Dark Magician has rival:

:4pikachu:
Dark Magician and Pikachu both have card games, an anime, and even video games.
:025:Pokedex number is 25. Dark Magician attack is 2500. Coincidence? I think not.
But that doesn't prove illuminati, 25 and 2,500 are two completely diffrent numbers.
Oh, but I do have proof, in Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories and also Dark Duel Stories, Dark Magician is indexed as card number 25.
It's like they are destined to settle it out, Settle it in Smash.
But 2500 is such a large number, why does yugioh trading card game use big numbers?
It's based off units of an army, aka even the weaker monsters can take out a small army.

YOU JUST ACTIVATED

MY TRAP CARD
I'm surprised there no thread for Dark Magician yet, he's been mentioned many times in other thread on smashboards. The only thread I could find was this one:
http://smashboards.com/threads/is-anyone-voting-for-yugi-muto-for-the-sm4sh-dlc.397297/
Yugi doesn't need to function like the Pokemon Trainer from Brawl, just have him summon his minions like :4zelda: down-B or :4dedede: side-B but instead of Gordo being tossed, make it Kuriboh. And have his main attack be MindFuc Mind Crush. If Yugi were to join smash his only transformation he'll need is transforming into Yami Yugi.

For Dark Magician there are many cards/attacks he could use, dark magic attack, magic cylinder, spell binding circle, Thousand Knives, etc.

For other skins, just use alternate art

Dark Magician dark magic attacks, uh
Dark Magician attacks and defended, urg
Dark Magician spells out dark magic, nah
Dark Magician Girl Spellbinds the competition, Maybe
Dark Magician Girl Formulates Magic. that doesn't work either. :urg:
Can you come up for a better smashing Dark Magician catch line for Smash?

My thoughts:

There's a simple rule which automatically disqualifies this character from being in Smash. She did not originate in a game!

It's common knowledge to any Smash player that Sakurai himself has pointed out that characters must have originated in a game! He specifically mentions that anime characters, such as this one, will not be joining the fray!

That would be true if I said Yugi Motto
but if I said claw Reacher

Claw reacher isn't a character in the anime, barely even pops up for a second as a monster card. But this fiend is a part of the card game and the video games.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Yu-Gi-Oh!_video_games
But why Dark Magician over Claw Reacher? For the same reason :025: over :044:, because Dark Magician is used by the protagonist, just like pikachu is used by Ash Ketchum, he's more popular. back in that time there were many cartoons that featured toys and games.

By your logic, King Dedede and metaknight shouldn't have been added because they happen to be charaters in the show kirby right back at ya
or sonic because happen to be in sonic X
or :4mewtwo:in his movie

Lets compare to a well known rule breaker, Goku
Goku's Dragonball Z games basically you follow the anime story line,
you fight goku's brother, fight nappa, fight vegeta, fight freza, fight cell, fight boo etc,
even in early games like Dragonball Z Legendary Super Warriors for the gameboy color.

While the yugioh games, you got unique game-play, unique story, unique characters, etc.

You seem to be missing the point here. Mewtwo, Dedede, Meta Knight, and Sonic all happen to have appeared in their respective video games first. They didn't appear in anime or card games until AFTER the video game was released! But the Dark Magician Girl appeared in the card game first! She did not originate from a video game, and thus is inelegible for Smash!

Now hating on the card game despite that Pokemon card game TCG

Flying pikachu was first seen on this card, only later was put in the pokemon video game.
also in pokemonTcg card game fighting, ground, and rock are all one type.

~ Lets pretend that cards and toys and amiibos and aren't games for a moment. ~

Brachioraidus, is a monster that is in Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories a video game released in 1999 and other yugioh video games, has never been a real card.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Bracchio-raidus_(FMR)

Ruby EyesBeast had a specific use in Dark Duel Stories

never a real card, and never will be.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Video_Game_Only_Cards
Bear Trap , Doll of Demise , Gate Sword , Invisible Wire , Leopard Girl , Mask of Shine & Dark , Ooashi , Space Megatron , Steel Fan Fighter , Talons of Shurilane, and Winged Trumpeter
11 more video game only cards/characters.

Lets just double check,
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Bracchio-raidus
oh, I was wrong, they did make this just 2 years ago
2013-10-11 in the Legendary Collection 4 Mega-Pack
Just only 14 years after the game.

~but toys and cards and amiibos do count because :4rob:~

based off this video, Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout released on 1997 before some of the show was aired in the US, therefor those charaters count :halfsheep:

Where in his response did you see any hate for the Pokemon TCG at all? Dude Pikachu first appeared in the Pokemon games, flying Pikachu is not referenced in the Smash Bros games at all and btw that's still Pikachu from the games. You're advocating for Dark Magician who's shown up as a card game character first thus making them not eligible, don't give me info on other monsters when your argument is supposed to be for Dark Magician. R.O.B. breaks the rules since he is a Nintendo owned property and is already in Smash Bros. The Nintendo toys, cards, and Amiibos are all based on characters that originated in video games, you don't seem to be getting the point.

I just came here to vote Digimon (and Pokemon and Monster Hunter, because I love all three).

What does Yu-Gi-Oh have to do with Nintendo at all? I think Agumon has a better shot than anyone here. And he really doesn't have one, so that's saying something.

And since it's based on clamouring for a pure magic user, I'd take Black Mage as a Square Enix rep. The adorable jawa looking fellows that

I almost didn't allow multiple votes.
Yu-Gi-Oh is Konami
came out on the 3DS recently, so it isn't too much of a stretch in thought that yu-gi-oh would have something to do with Nintendo.
