A Little Edgehogging Help

It seems that lately when i have been playing i have been running into trouble edgehogging a couple of characters, namely wolf and another marth. How do you go from standign on the edge to grabbing it really quickly so they can't grab it. I've tried jumping down and then grabbing the edge but it is really kinda slow. Also, any hints for edgehogging wolf and marh, whenever i jump off and grab the ledge, they always hit me off becasue of marths dolphin slash, and wolfs really annoying kick at the end of his fire wolf.

Any suggestions? I will try to post some vids later on to see if anyone has any extra help

well about the edgehogging quickly I have no advice for you there.

when it comes to the edge hogging help there is where I can help you. If you get to the edge to quickly just quickly press down then short air jump and you will re grab the edge and regain your split second of invincibility which will enable you to edge hog more effectively.

Wolf's recovery is rather easy to edgehog just make sure that you grab the edge right when he starts to dash (not charge).

Marth's recovery is harder to do because you have to predict when your opponent will use it because it is so quick so I really have no advice for you there.

You can short hop off the ledge then counter. If not, just drop from the ledge then bair. If they get knocked back far enough, they won't be able to recover.

also, let me clarify what i mean by getting on the edge quickly. If i am playing as marth and i have knowcked wolf straight down off of say, FD and he has alreadyused his double jump and is going to use hsi fire wolf, what is the quickest way to grab the ledge. Do you have to jump? From some of the other poepel i have watched, it seems that they do not have to jump to grab the ledge, but they do it insanely quickly... Any suggestions?

as for being fast, try fast falling your short hop, just be careful you don't fall through the edge.

1. Stay backwards to the ledge, as close as you can.
2. Press diagonally down on your control stick.
If done correctly you should just automatically grab the ledge within miliseconds.

While running at the ledge, do a backwards hadouken on the control stick just as you reach it. If timed right you'll run barely off the ledge and fastfall into an edgehog. That's the fastest way to do it (and what you were seeing in the videos).

its simple! assuming you're not playing online, well it will work on green/blue easy but just ran to the edge, jam your joystick off the edge then immedialtley jam it back towards the stage. There's no faster way.

When Guarding, follow them off the platform and continue to use fairs and nairs to make them waste their 2nd jump then, use yours and grab the ledge w/ dolphin slash. If done correctly, it can kill at 0%, especially on ZSS and olimar or snake too.
Use the counter on wolf's kick. U can also hit w/ the stem of the blade in dolphin to bounce them off FD and BF.

This is not as fast as the method I described, since it includes fastfalling while you were falling normally.

Don't edgehog if you have to just roll to the end of the level and press diagnol in the direction of the edge or up b from where ever you are.

You should be looking to drop down off the edge and use air attacks to finish off your opponent. Tipping a fair and using a nair whne you think the opponent will air dodge, the second strike will usually hit. Bair is also fairly well and running off with a bair can setup the dair or bair on your recoverying opponent.

try to edgehog at the last second. marth/wolf is gonna go for the edge if its open (most liekly) and right before they use their up b, jump down and hog the edge. if you do it to early, theyll go for the stage, and thats when you get back up and attack them while vunerable.
Dont know if that helps, but try it out. Edgehogging incorporates a lot of mindgames
