A Closer Look Into Nairo Saga and 2GG

What is Nairo Saga?

Nairo Saga Trailer

2GGC: Nairo Saga is an upcoming national Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament that will be held in Santa Ana, California on June 10th-11th, 2017, organized by 2GGaming. It is announced that 2GGC: Nairo Saga will the 5th qualifier in the 2GG Championship Series. This event will be dedicated to popular smasher and streamer Nairobi "Nairo" Quezada. In addition to singles and doubles tournaments, it will also feature special events such as 'Waifu Wars' and 'Naifu Wars'.

An In-depth Look at 2GG with JMEX

Nairo Saga is the first 2GGC event to honor a specific player, which was the tradition of 2GGC's predecessor 2GGT. 2GGaming co-founder James "JMEX" Chacon sheds light about the reasoning that came to Nairo Saga. "It was something that was more so when will it happen rather than IF it will happen. We had ZeRo saga and who else but Nairo is there to honor with their own saga. I mean he was the first person to beat ZeRo. So it was a no brainier."

According to JMEX, 2GG recently began shaking things up to keep their events "fresh and exciting". A recent example of this iteration was the recent Greninja Combo tournament at Greninja Saga. "RPS. Thats going to be the one that people will enjoy the most. For a general viewer, it'll be silly but entertaining. To the avid smash fan they know RPS has been a part of smash since forever so this will be super familiar and hype."

As we venture about halfway through the 2GG circuit, we've witnessed several historical upsets, an ever growing community, and breath taking performances along the way. We turn to 2GG and ask, how satisfied is the 2GG team with the circuit? "Everyone is extremely pleased and amped for the 2nd half." says JMEX. "We gauge the success of the event off in person feedback, online feedback and overall buzz. Again, we do this for the community so to see everyone still really excited about each of our events both in and out of the circuit brings a smile to our faces."

When the question of why the community should care about Nairo Saga, JMEXhad this to say "It's a 'saga'. It's been proven time and time again to be a great event. On top of that, we normally have heavy hitters attending these events with a heavy presence of Japanese players. This sat will be no exception with plenty of upsets and new talent sure to entertain the masses"

2GG, believe it or not, has been around since the Brawl years. Champ & JMEX have lived through many experiences throughout the years. "There hasn't been a singular moment that's been the most memorable for me." JMEX continues to say "But there is one topic that is most memorable. 2GG has helped to make the lives of someone or their family better. A lot of people have said 2GG has given them purpose, or helped them battle depression, anxiety or other things. And that is definitely something to be proud of. A memorable let experience for sure."

As for the future of 2GG, JMEXhad this to say "Continuing what we do today. As long as there's a want, well provide what is needed. Everyone in 2GG loves what they do and do it for the love of esports and more importantly for the love of Smash."
