“Oh ho ho, so witty Mic” I hear you say. “Where DO you come up with em” Anyway, enough bad jokes, todays update was one of the few things from Smash 64 that wasn’t in Melee, the wonderous Bumper Item. It was (and still is) one of the few throw and stay items, along with Flipper and the Proxy mines.

Sakurai reminds us that it’s been 9 years since it’s been in a game. So long. And it looks amazing. I may be a sentimental fool, but the bumper looks brilliant. Anyway…for those who haven’t played Smash 64, imagine a Pinball bumper proxy mine. You throw it, people touch it and get knocked away. Oh the joys of Smash 64, throwing it at someone point blank, having it bounce them away, only to have the bumper bounce into your face and you fly off. Ahhhh.

New to Brawl though is it’s ability to stick in the air. While the bumper item didn’t do this, in Mario’s Smash 64 stage there was a floating bumper, so it can do that too now. Does this mean the Flipper from Baloon Fighter is now out for the count? It wouldn’t be suprising.
Bumper, welcome home!
