Wayne Community College
3000 Wayne Memorial Dr. | Goldsboro, NC 27534

Feb 6th 2010 (10a.m. to 9p.m.)

Brawl singles 128 Double Elimination Tournament.

5th Annual Carolina Games Summit

Registration

Doors open to CGS at 10a.m. For the people who preregister, they will be on a list that will confirm that you have registered online, letting them register for a tournament ID. For everyone else they must go register at a computer before you can sign into a tournament ID.

There will be a table set up stairs with a sign in sheet in the SSBB room. This is where all SSBB players will get an ID card with their number which they are to be called by and the time of their first match.

Tournament Format

Summit Brawl will narrow the number of players from (128) down to 1 champion, in (20) rounds.

Tournament begins officially at 11:00a.m. But if competitors arrive early they are welcomed to start early. For every 16 players who start early 8 minutes is to be taken from the time on the bracket. For example: If 16 players have arrived early, and play, then group 1 in round 1 (which has been set for 11:00) has been completed and bumps group 2 of round 1 up to start at 11:00.

This is a BYOC Tournament (Bring your own controller)

Wiimotes and Classic Controller users should know to take the batteries out of their controllers after finishing a match; not only will this save battery life, but it prevents accidental interference and delay for tournament matches.

But be mindful of what you bring. If you bring your own controller of any kind you are fully responsible for it. We here at CGS are not responsible for any lost or stolen items so please do not trust people with your stuff.

Hardware macros, turbo, or other hardware assisted mechanisms are strictly forbidden.

Game Specific Rules

• Each match will be set to 6 minutes with 3 stock. Maps will be randomly selected.

• There will be a 2 min switch over time between each match. please be on time. If you fail to arrive, then you forfeit your first match, The second time is a disqualification.

• If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.

• If the timer runs out, and both players have the same damage and stock, or die simultaneously there will be a 2 minute 1 stock Sudden death match on Final Destination. (In game sudden deaths are to be ignored)

• Final Round will be best 2 of 3. 8 Minute 3 stock

Item rules
• No items or smash ball.

Other rules

• Stalling, the act of avoiding all conflict, to the point of the game becoming unplayable. Example, Sonic’s neutral B attack under a stage, or using chain grabbing infinitely against a wall or any way else (building up damage around 300%) Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling. Stalling in any form WILL get you DISQUALIFIED!

• Meta-knight’s infinite cape glitch is BANNED; any use of it on aplayer during the tournament will be auto-disqualification!

• King Dedede's standing/moving infinite grab is banned.

• A game ending in a "Suicide kill" will go to the player doing the suicide move, in example " Bowser's flying slam off the stage." This comes into effect when the game goes to a sudden death match, instead of ending the match. Ex. Using Bowser's flying slam, but the game goes into a sudden death. The suddent death will be ignored and Bowser is made winner.

- Any type of threats or violence will not be tolerated, you will be removed.

•Stages on random select:

Battlefield
Final Destination

•Counter Pick Stages (Final round only)

Hey, feel free to question us as well if you have any concerns about the rules or things such as how we'll handle the matches. After all we're going to be trying a new way to set up matches and make sure things run more smoothly, and hopefully the room won't be a volcano again.

I'm really hoping turn out will be awesome again this year because I am going to be using a new way to keep track of players matches. And from that I plan to add doubles next year.

Important update.

Update
SSBB 2010 Tournament Bracket System.

Tournament pre-registration and registration on the day of the event will reserve you a spot in 128 player line up.

However, you will still need to go to Room 213 or 217 as soon as you arrive at the event to check in and receive an assigned ID number card. This is also to make sure you still are registered for SSBB less you change your mind. On it you will have the time of your first match and space to track your progress of your later matches.

In order for you to track your next match you will be given a key Sheet that has the times for all matches before hand. This way you can plan your day around your matches as you advance in the tournament.

By the same token it also means you are responsible for being on time. With knowing this you have 2 minutes to be in the room and counted as “present”. If you are not on time to your first match that will count as a loss and you will end up in the loser bracket. The second time you'll be eliminated by a technical disqualification.

Plus at the end of each match you will be able to see your progress and will be notified of your current position in the bracket.
