To be fair, Snake was originally a NIntendo allstar until the Solid series started. The orinigal metal gear games were for the NES, and there was even one for the Gameboy Color, so it's not like Snake is completely non-Nintendo. I think that as long as they've appeared on a good number of Nintendo games there's no reason to not include non0Nintendo characters. I think that it should stay mainly Nintendo so that it doesn't suddenly become an everybody vs. everybody game, but in the end having a few characters out of Nintendo will only draw in more fans and boost sales, which increases the chances of more budget being put into the next Smash game, which then brings out a better game. it's only going to help the series, and as long as they are as well balanced as the rest of the characters it shouldn't be a problem.

There are a lot of third-party characters who have left great impacts on Nintendo's history and would greatly enrich the Brawl experience. Characters like Simon Belmont, Megaman, Bomberman, or...well, pretty much anyone from Squaresoft's 16-bit era.

Unfortunately, we get Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog. *sigh...*

Couldn't have said it better myself. (Though I do think that Snake and Sonic are fine.)

I don't mind third party characters as long as Nintendo doesn't get too ridiculous with some characters.

E.g. A character who has appeared in one game that released in Japan back in 1995 for the Virtual Boy.

This game isn't just about nintendo characters battling, this is very much more about video game ICONS battling in a uniform (more or less) setting. That's why it's not a stretch at all for Sonic to be likely, besides, I don't think anyone on this forum woulden't want to pound mario with sonic, or pound sonic with anyone. Basically, the closer the chaacter is to 1st party and ICON status, the more likely they are to be in. It seems that 1st party obscure, 2nd party favorite, and 3rd party icon all have about equal chances to get in. Sonic comes up alot because he's above icon, like mario and lara croft, placing him up there with 1st party icon characters for likelyhood. Of course, just like ANYTHING ANYONE says about this game, it's nearly 100% speculation/opinion until there's an update about it.

how about instead of dissing his thread u answer the question, i am very happy with the 3rd party character inclusion because i find they are usually very different, and for the most part, more mature, all we need now is sonic and ramin rabbit

3rd parties: HORRIBLE!, i will dodge unlocking them because this game is about Nintendo's all-stars duking it out, and 3rd parties ruin that!.

ugh, why did Sakurai let Kojima have his way like a spoiled kid....

I personally like 3rd parties, but really besides Snake, Sonic, Megaman, Bomberman and Simon Belmont I don't really think I would want more then that.

Really though I would be happy even if Snake was/is the only 3rd party character, although I actually will be shocked if Sonic doesn't make it.

You mean this game is for characters nintendo has accumulated over the years through it's franchises that have reached iconic or star status? Sonic fits that, affiliate franchise, snake fits that, previously owned character (aka adopted kid) that's now an icon, Megaman could even go in there. You're arguing about nintendo loyalty, when all I care about is good characters in a good game. The company names don't matter to me much, since those will change anyway.

I'm all for third-party, as long as they left a notable mark in Nintendo history, like Snake and all the Metal Gear games on NES. But, if it were some off-the-wall character that no one barely recognizes, heck no.

I totally agree.

I heard that Sakurai said there would be 2 more 3rd party characters. My picks would be Snake(In)/Sonic/Bomberman. I like Bomberman over Mega Man and think he would be better in my opinion.

I think is a great idea in part of Nintendo. I hope that Sonic becomes a playable character!
