1. does anyone have trouble fast falling marth's nair, when you make contact with someone? I find that making contact with it screws up my timing, so when should i fast fall?

2. What is the best way to escape shield grabbing after a shffl? Holding c-stick left/right to dodge away, using marth's inital dash to escape (fox trot i think), or wavedash (seems tough after l-canceling hope it not the answer.)?

3. For marth's di, should i hold the c-stick towards the stage, or the control stick, and should i mash the other stick 90 degrees to where i'm flying?

edit: One more question, what is the use of dash dancing and is it replacable with fox trot or wave dash?

1) The hit frames slow down the pace of the game so it's probably just throwing you off. Just wait until you see Marth begin to come down in his jump and then fast fall.

2) The best way to escape a shield grab is to properly space yourself away from them. If done correctly, only Samus, Link, and Young Link have the range to get you but their grabs are generally slow enough to let you dodge. It takes a while to consistently get the right spacing but it pays off very well.

3) I don't use the c-stick for DI, although I believe it helps a small deal, but that is very marginal. And yes, you almost always smash 90 degrees to where you are flying unless they are trying to set you up for a combo where it would be you're best bet to DI with the hit to take you out of range (example: a Marth forward throws you so you DI with the throw to avoid the tipper of a forward smash).

4) Dash dancing is essentially used for mindgames, among a few other choice opportunities. For example, dash away from your enemy and then dash dance back to him for a grab, double fair, etc. Also, when chain grabbing space animals dash dancing helps to situate yourself for a grab if they don't DI at around 25%-35%.

That's a brief overview. If you have any more questions, try using the search function at the top right of the forum.

^ your basically right, but marth can grab marth magically 1/3 times whether or not they space themselves correctly.

Another way to avoid shield grabbing if you mess up your spacing is to L cancel and then sidedodge/grab/roll/wavedash/jab . Pretty obvious already though
