I think you're right to be angry, from a father's standpoint. I think that there's plenty of 22 year olds that wanna screw 16 year olds, and plenty of 16 year olds that wanna screw 22 year olds.

The girl, may be a bit of a w**re (after all, she's coming on to a 22 year old in an American Eagle). The guy from the tone and facts in that blog, sounds like a d-bag. Sounds like a match made in Hell.

But from a father's standpoint, your indignation is justified, because I wouldn't wanna see my daughter (I don't have a daughter, I'm 16) be de-flowered before she was legal (17 in NYS). I personally think that 16 is an Ok age for sex, but some people just aren't mature enough at 16 or even 17.

D-bags don't deserve no lovin'.

It most definitely is a fact. Modern neuroscience would agree with me; the parts of the brain responsible for judgment do not finish growing until one's mid-twenties. That's why you see so many teenagers, high schoolers, and college kids driving fast, doing drugs, partying it up, and getting into car crashes. There is a reason most car-rental companies don't allow people under 25 to rent, even if they're legally adults at 18. It's because the under-25 age group is found to get in far more car crashes than the older crowd.

Now naturally, not every person will "mature" at the same time, but I would bet all my savings that a 16 year old girl is not mature enough to make mature, responsible decisions.
My point is that you cant apply modern neuroscience theory to this situation and simply write off the relationship and say the girl can't make responsible decisions. It doesn't work like that. I know plenty of 16 year olds that I would trust could make extremely important life decisions, and know 20 year olds that couldn't. I'm just saying every situation is different and its stupid to even pretend you know whats going on with these two individuals.

and the under 25 group is also the least experienced in driving, which i think is most likely a larger factor than a lack of development in the brain.

Based on the link in the first post, the fact that a 16 year old girl would want to get with an immature 22 year old is a clear sign of her own lack of judgment. I'm not saying that every decision a 16 year old makes will lack thought of validity, but that you generally cannot trust a 16 year old to make the best life decisions; and I think this case is a clear example.

I would have to disagree! I would say that new drivers (16-18ish) are the most inexperienced, but most <25 people are very good drivers. They've got better reflexes than adults, and with the video game generation, a better idea of how to control cars! However, they're more likely to drive fast or aggressive, not because of experience or lack thereof, but simply because that's the general behavior and mentality of the <25 age group. I am sure you've noticed that the majority of "slow" drivers on the road are older people.

Wow that guy is a loser...why do girls like ******** guys who try to pick up girls in malls?
Because it's cooler that way.

I pray that I'll never have daughters. It's just not possible to protect them from all the Tucker Maxes of the world.

I think it's hilarious that girls like older guys because they're 'more mature', but only the most immature older guys will date somone that much younger.
Not necessarily, if it was a 26 year old and a 20 year old it wouldn't be that big of a deal. The main reason people are alarmed is because she's a minor in most states/countries.

Pedophile implies having sex with someone who isn't legal. That's it.
What about 2 people who aren't legal?

Pedophile on Pedophile action.

It's considered statutory ****, I BELIEVE, and the parents are held accountable.

I never actually knew the law on this one, but I think that's the case.

Yes, and with good reason. The six-year difference between a 22 year old and a 16 year old is much more significant than between a 26 and 20 year old, or a 30 year old and a 24 year old, because of the maturity issues involved.

Well I know it's legal in pennsylvania. I wonder what the age of consent is in Tokyo... (i'm currently living in Japan).

I was in a similiar situation as the guy in the first post, but I didn't go for it - I told her she had to be older. The problem with most guys is that they think between their legs and not between their ears. However it's perfectly legal - there is a way to sue the guy if you sue him for corruption of morals or something like that. In other parts of the world (Russia for example) it's normal for an age difference like 22 and 16 to be having sex - even higher examples exist i know. I should ask my sister what the norm was over there.

Anyways it's a difference in culture - america is so diverse, but not when it comes to things like this. Foreigners could laugh at situation like this because it's normal to them. *shrugs* what can you do?
