Probably not at all; tournaments would have no reason to specifically encourage players bringing setups with 20XX or the like. 20XX is a training tool, and doesn't affect tournament play. But this will make the benefits of 20XX much more easily accessible to more of us scrubs trying to get better :D

Actually it does affect tournament play because there are bugs in the 20xx hackpack. And there still might be hidden ones we don't know of.

By not affecting tourney play, I meant that it wouldn't be used in tourney aha. On top of bugs, it takes quite a bit of extra time to set up, and it's not too uncommon for unaware players to accidentally activate the taunt command input thingies

Holy moly! Kage! But yeah I agree, I've noticed bugs in the 20XX hack pack.
...didn't quite catch that @___@ daamn.

It /would/ be neat if we could see some Melee tourney-legal modding in the future though. I don't think anyone would have qualms with PM-esque alt costumes added in, so long as they don't go over our loved pre-existing ones.

Having Pokemon Stadium without transformation would be really nice to have as a standard which would give the spacies less of a huge advantage on it and it would be more fair in general. I doubt it could be implemented all around but it would be nice.

It will be great to have some features, alt colors, neutral spawn points (begin matches at neutral potition regardless of controller port) extra letters for names, widescreen etc.

But this hack is a trainning tool, it will be great to have it on unmoded consoles.

Sounds awesome as to someone like me who only has a gamecube.

My only issue is: Will it not be more difficult to change between codes if you only have that 1 copy? Unless you can alter all of those changes in-game.

The hack is primarily a training tool but there are features I'd like to have in a tournament. 20XX has P:M style stage striking, for instance, which would be nice to have.

That being said, I don't think 20XX in its current state is going to be replacing Melee at any tournaments.

20XX should only be used as a training tool. It should not be present in a tournament environment.
But it is really awesome how accessible it will become once this is worked out, as a training tool, it really serves a lot of good use in the melee community.
But really, people need to stop bringing 20XX to tournaments, even with all the toggles off, it still crashes and glitches from weird things. And honestly, with toggles off, there isn't even a point to using 20XX as opposed to a normal melee setup.

I could forsee alt/hd costumes, stage hazard elimination, stages that have EVO or MLG showcased on them, standardized 4 stock 8 min timer ff on, and widescreen hack.

The questionable one would be PAL chars allowed for players to use, and 1.0 features for characters like Bowser who have flame cancelling or YL who can use boomerang cancelling to get an airdodge into their recoveries.
