2 Specific Ice climbers problems

Certain things in the IC matchup seems to give me trouble

Sometime I don't have a grenade, and I have difficulty punishing certain move after i block them. Its their Side B and Jumping Blizzard. They seems to have very little lag at the end of those move, and the fact nana does things a bit after popo make it seems sometime as if after block they have the frame advatage, well not quite but its close. And thats not when I have my back turn.

So I am not sure if i should jab and hope it faster then they can block/grab. Or Grab and hope the Bthrow goes faster they their potential attack. But this is a guessing game and just to punish a move. Its not good

So I am not quite sure if when they block it is because I am not fast enough of because I don't have enough frame to connect. In any case the timing looks very tight


My other problem also happen when I am without a nade and they run toward me to block.

Now against any character the easy counterto that would be for snake to run and grab them. But since they are 2 climbers, I believe a good IC would attack me with the other climbers

So don't know what I should do. If I Ftilt sometimes it will hit, but sometimes they will shield then their running momentum will put them in position to grab me to high damage

I find all my options very bad when they just run shield

a snake with ice climber problems? O_o

1. pretty anything you have will cut squall hammer in half. ftilt/utilt away to pwn them. your jab is faster than anything they can do, too, so even if they cancel it properly you can punish pretty easily.

2. you can grab ice climbers, but you gotta be quick. bthrow works wonders cause its quick enough that nana will be unable to punish without prediction (usually), and will make her run after popo, allowing you to **** her with an fsmash or similar. dash attack and dacus can work cause they cross to the other side, but dont use it too often. instead, space with ftilt properly, cause there isnt much they can do. their grab range is tiny as, and they cant even dash grab you after a power shielded tilt (and if they were to power shield, the other climber would most likely get hit). keep them at arms length and they cant do to much. snake is ice climbers worst matchup for a reason. or actually, a bunch of reasons.

Yeah i heard its supose to be a good matchup for snake, but I am no Ally ;) Thank you for the quick answer btw

1-Maybe I was not very clear. I understand that Utilt beat side B. But I am not good enough to do it on reaction every time. My problem comes when I block it. But you seems to believe drop shield+jab is quick enough to punish it. So I guess I can try it

2-Ok I will try the quick throw more next time, and see how that works out.

Well I don't really like Q&A, I feel it takes people too long to answer, and it does not induce an as good discussion.

no i don't believe its a reaction problem ;) I mean I am blocking, So I only have to press the atack buton at the right moment. I would like to know how much frame i usualy get, of if its even posible to atack at all after block. Or if i should usualy go for a bthrow, or just to try to never block the squall

Now Ally punished alot of Squall with utilt and grenade and good spacing. But He only fully blocked 2 of them

first blocked squall at 1:06 ally has his back turn and does a out of shield dair. It gets blocked and he gets grabed

second blocked squall at 1:42 ally ftilt. It gets blocked, but it seems the IC are pushed too far to grab since they did not grab in between the 2 hit

Now you guys seems to think its easy to time the conecting jab, but I don't think it is. Also I think its even harder to jab after a blizard. But maybe not

A video of a snake easily punishing those move on block would be helpfull

We need to start linking the Q&A again. Also, grenades are key in this match-up. You don't need to approach IC's; you force them to approach you. Just be sure to shield a SH>Blizzard approach. That **** hurts.

I think snake is actually overrated as an MK counter, I personally have done better with wario and MK and I don't really play wario...and half of the snake vs IC's games that I've watched feature the IC's grabbing snake 3 or more times with no explosives around and messing up, maybe snake players are just too good at distracting them <_<
