Look at this video at about 38 seconds... It shows what appears to be 2 players from one household and 2 players from another playing online. This might be exclusive to team battles. It might be exclusive to only friend battles. It might be completely available.
Either way, I am completely stocked. My wife plays Smash and a lot of our friends have moved out of the city over the years. If we can both play at the same time against other friends - this is a very VERY good thing.
