I was just thinking,

Super Smash Bros came out in 1999.

Melle came out in 2001, Only 2 years later.

Brawl in 2008, 7 YEARS LATER??

Now, It only took 2 years for the leap from super smash to melle to become
very great and fun, now since this game has had so much more time to be worked on, will it blow our minds?. I was just wondering the goods and bads, of the years of Smash.

Discuss.

Aye.

Melees development probably started in late 2000.

Brawls started in late 2005.

Basicly, theyve been working on brawl twice as long as melee. And with a greater understanding of the hardware, a larger team, etc..

they spent 1 year watching SSB64 become a hit
1 year working on melee
2 years on brawl

remember SSB64 came out near the end of the N64's life and melee at the beginning of the GC's.......they come out every console (like a mario game, paper mario etc.)

Well, it'll sure as hell be a defining game for the Wii. Now that I'm thinking about it, there hasn't been any game thus far that's really used the Wii to it's potential. From the looks of Brawl and how big it could be, it could set the bar just a bit higher for big, bad, franchises like SSB.

Melee development started right after smash 64, and had about 23 months. With Brawl-they will have had over 32 months. The technological growth from 1996 to 2004 was astounding. Graphics have hardly improved since 2004, other then far off backgrounds and some instances of lighting effects. The 5th to 6th generation of gaming technological growth was astounding. The 6th to 7th generation of gaming technological growth is basically minimal, aside from virtual reality being added into the mix.

The idea of SSB3 was thrown around for 3 years, and has been under development for over 32 months already. With Melee-they jumped right into it. If I remember correctly, Super Smash Bros. Melee was announced in 1999, and Sakurai's Melee Poll took place that same year. ;) So ya, expect several memory storage upgrades, and how much is in the game/can be stored, but nothing much, other then enhanced visuals, and late 6th generation of gaming basic stuff. And of course, Brawl carries the memory of ten average games nowadays! >_<

Wii discs can apparently hold about 6 times that of a gamecube disc.

But ya, graphics have only improved minimally over the last few years, relative to the leaps and bounds of the late 90s and early 2000s. Still, given that they had more time to work on it, and that they have more storage space, the textures should be looking better (what am I saying, they do).

The game will be better in other subtle ways. The game will likely have more balance, less cloning, less glitches, and more secrets.

Yep, that was the point that I was trying to get across, I'm just a little delirious being that it's 3:23 a.m., waiting for Best Buy to restock with Wiis. But yeah, that's exactly right, memory storage is something that plagues most games recently. We see these short, low-content games on the shelves as opposed to something loaded with content and depth like Brawl is looking and turning out to be.

Six times the content of Melee... blows my mind, right now. I can't even comprehend what it's going to do when Brawl actually arrives.

Thats more due to lazy 3rd party developers trying to make a quick buck who dont put any time, money or effort in.

But I didn't even get to play Melee to its very last drop. I bet this is totally throw me into a frenzy.

This game looks to be well worth the price. Good thing I got my wii Dec. 31 to celebrtate the
New Year. I feel sorry for the ones who are also big fans of the series and are looking desperatlely for a wii, since the game is less than one month away in the US. Unfortunately, Japan gets it on Jan 24. Oh well, It's not too long of a wait..... lucky them:grrr:, lol. but in all seriousness, hopefully we can all find a place to trade wii codes. If you want to, please save me as a friend and leave me your wii code in a note. I'll reply with my code.

I got my wii midnight launch. I pre-ordered it 4 months before it came out because i thought brawl was gonna be a release title... oh well, with all that development time and the fact that all the people on the team love smash bros as much as us, we should get an excellent game.
