Who are Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo?

Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo are two bears that live at Jellystone National Park (which is basically like Yellowstone National Park) stealing picnic baskets on a daily basis. Yogi often speaks in rhyme and he is also overconfident as well. Boo-Boo is Yogi Bear’s companion who often comes along with him on these exploits. They really don’t need a huge introduction due to how iconic these two are but now I’m going to go into a bit of trivia about them.

Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo actually debuted in The Huckleberry Hound Show as supporting characters in 1958. However, Yogi Bear became the first breakout character in animation (meaning he became more popular than the main character) and received his own show called The Yogi Bear Show in 1961 which was sponsored by Kellogg’s. Alongside this, he was one of several Hanna-Barbera characters to have a collar which helped reduce animation frames. He even received a musical film in 1964 called Hey There, It’s Yogi Bear!

He along with Boo-Boo have gotten several other shows, another movie which was eh (the 2010 one of course) and cameoed in lots of other shows/crossovers/media such as Scooby Doo’s All Star Laff-A-Lympics where Yogi led his team called the Yogi Yahooeys, Hanna-Barbera’s 50th anniversary special, a GEICO commercial and of course Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Beyond just shows, Yogi Bear even has his own chain of recreational vehicles and camping parks with over 80 locations across the United States called Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts. There is also a restaurant chain called “Yogi Bear’s Honey Fried Chicken” but only one location stands today, as of 2018 which is in South Carolina.

Overall, the two bears are really iconic Hanna-Barbera characters.

Why should they join MultiVersus?

As said before, Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo are very iconic Hanna-Barbera characters. Yogi Bear being one of the first breakout characters in animated history is important which led to more animated spinoffs for lots of other animated universes. They are no strangers to crossovers and the fact Warner Bros cares about the two still. The fact there is a show on HBO Max called Jellystone which focuses on the Hanna-Barbera characters. In the show, Yogi is a surgeon.

Plus, we need more Hanna-Barbera characters in MultiVersus given right now that Shaggy, Velma and Tom and Jerry are the 3 (technically 4) Hanna-Barbera characters on the roster right now. If leaks are right, we could be getting Scooby-Doo himself as well as Fred Flintstone soon so that raises the total to 5 (technically 6). Add Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo and you got 7 (technically 8) Hanna-Barbera characters there.

How would they play? What content would they bring?

Obviously, their moveset can be based around stealing things. Basically, maybe something like Joker (Persona 5) from Super Smash Bros Ultimate but more focused around the cartoon antics of just stealing things. Also, Boo-Boo can be used for attacks and even Ranger Smith too can be used for one move. Imagine if one move involved an argument between Yogi and Ranger Smith. Even escape plots can be a move in their moveset too. Lots of cartoon antics here to work with.

Also, their stage would obviously be Jellystone National Park. Maybe it can be a traveling stage showing the different locations in the park and maybe have campers in the background.

Overall, the two bears truly deserve to be in MultiVersus given their iconic status and relevancy. Remember, be smarter than the av-er-age bear!

One move that came to mind for Yogi is where he pulls out a pic-a-nic basket and eats the contents of it, recovering health to himself and his teammate and leaving behind garbage for him to toss and he can’t eat more until he tosses the garbage, like a tin foil ball for a sandwich, a bone for a chicken leg, a banana peel for a banana, etc
