Long story short, in January 2018, fans were so desperate for the announcement of a Direct expected on Jan. 11, that NOA's Twitter responded by posting a pic of Chibi-Robo on fire on the 10th. Other game PR accounts did something similar, people went so crazy that ResetERA in particular actually loosened up on the rules and let the chaos go on until a Direct came the day after.
