Also, as you were improving, did you study matchups of character such as Mario and other mid tiers? Or were they "free" for you at the get go?

You need your own plan but you need to know what people want to do and how they often think. Also I think knowing the intricacies of every matchup is important, although some matchups have far more intricacies than others =p
