Speaking for myself, I think I've already got a set-in-stone solution to my #1 Smash problem that I've been very open about: just have less marketing. There's a lot of ways that can go ranging from radical (no character trailers at all, fine details treated as "wait and see") to band-aid (selective trailers, overview trailers styled and distributed like other Nintendo games instead of directs), but I think I'd be repeating myself to say it over and over again, which isn't as funny, snappy, and malleable to say over and over again as a simple yet sincere "Ultimate is increasingly severe AVGN-style insult".
