I think the "Smash clone" has evolved enough into a genre of it's own beyond just being clones, so I agree.

There's a reason why I call those games "knockback-based platform fighters" now. Though I might want to shorten it to "knockback platform fighter".

As for Pizza Tower, I'd still wait a little bit until "quirky Wario Land-inspired platformer" becomes a real genre.

Honestly I don't really think we've seen enough non-blast-zone-based platform fighters to need to clarify one is "knockback based". I'd love to see a full-fledged HP based platform fighter some day, but as it stands, all there really is is PSASBR, which is to be fair probably neck-at-neck with MVS for "most well known non-Smash platform fighter" (but even then is probably significantly more "known" than "played"), and all the prototypical pre-Smash stuff.

Well I don't know what you mean by "full-fledged" HP platform fighter, but I'd say this counts at least.

Also, this page at least lists knockback-based and other platform fighters separately.
