i can best describe this state of being as kind of like when you're in the process of being just about to eat a cheese toastie and it's delectable and you've been making it for like an hour and it's even got worcestershire sauce on it then you take one bite, it's hot as ****, you burn your tongue and it's painful but you also have that moment of realisation that like "damn, i won't be able to taste it anymore because i've burned my tastebuds" and you feel simultaneously agonised and kind of disappointed as the initial pain begins to recede into a dull sensation that remains present but not quite as prevelant and you're just left to soak in your own resentment
