Nate Bhildorf (Localization head) Comments on Brawl

I really just think they're making mountains out of molehills. I mean, for goodness sakes, the original post that started this thread is that Nate didn't want to the game to be "competitive" so he helped to "strip it down". This reminds me of the the thread (and it exists, trust me)...

    So...none items user....cant adapt?

You know, unrelated, but there's some things I just don't like hearing over and over in these threads. - Apparently, Bob-Ombs spawn ALL the time, and always IN YOUR FACE. That's impressive. - Hammers are some how unstoppable instant win buttons, despite the fact that your foe can't do anything...

Nate Bhildorf (Localization head) Comments on Brawl

If you think Nate Bhildorf had any hand in how the game play was changed from Melee to Brawl, you really have no idea what a Localizer actually does.

    Brawl fan comic, Smashboards relevant

I don't think it's making fun of competitive smashers. It's making fun of tourney***s.

And in the days of Melee, if you don't play with them... then you lose them as fun to play with. Brawl has opened up a lot of options on playing with people who you can agree to play with. But prior to the wifi, one would be out of luck if you didn't want to follow the "tourney" setting all...

Except when they do, because it's how they play and they don't like the idea of "crazy" level / items on friendlies.

Did Sakurai do a good job at evening out the competitive side of Brawl?

On the other hand, Melee's tier list was anything but sane.

Did Sakurai do a good job at evening out the competitive side of Brawl?

Eh, but on the other hand, I could debate some of those points as being improved. For instance, yeah, Ganondorf could combo his down aerial better with L-cancelling. But since everyone cancelled it, the move had no penality. It went from being a power hit to something else. I really can't...

Did Sakurai do a good job at evening out the competitive side of Brawl?

I think the changes were pretty much all improvements, competitive or casual. I mean, let's see... - Heavies are greatly improved, actually fun to play as. They no longer are just big targets. - Zelda is an honest to goodness "character" now, and not just "that mistake you made when you...

So who else hates Spear Head?

    I like it. It's fun.

Banning stages is just dumb ~*Official rant*~

Bumper tournament is the new Smash Bros tourney standard.

Banning stages is just dumb ~*Official rant*~

I always felt that the true skill of SSB is to be able to adapt and take advantage of the random crap that goes on in a regular match. If they wanted to play a game where the randomness is minimal and the matches are 1v1, then play a regular fighting game like SF or Tekken. SSB is more of a...

This is what a skilled brawl match will look like.

Yeah. You guys are the ones who hope beyond hope that Brawl will maaaaaagically turn into Melee, and I'm the noob.

This is what a skilled brawl match will look like.

That match was horrible. Spastic Captain Falcon, no items, nothing at all like what will make competitive Brawl could ever be. That's just another lame Tourney match from Melee, and that style of play should stay in Melee.
