  • Oh dear. So much work to do. I was extremely productive today.
Fox Boards: Finishing up the matchup discussion for Snake and updating the index, starting a new discussion (Diddy)
Bowser Boards: Writing the missing summaries for Secondary and Stage Discussions.
Wolf Boards: Answering questions about the lag cancelling and creating the directory.
Other Stuff: Discussing in the SBR, Brawl Tactical and maintaining the thread about my tournament in SWF and keeping an eye on the local Smash forums of the German-speaking region, Italy and the Netherlands. Whew.

Tomorrow will be Stage 2: Writing the discussion summary for Snake for the Fox Boards and making a matchup chart for the Wolf Boards.
Hohohoho... I guess I've found something.

I'll make a thread about it. Usually, if you fall from a height of any size - including SHing - you will have landing lag once your character touches the ground. There's a few characters that have moves that allow them to have absolutely no landing lag, such as Snake holding a grenade in his hand and landing on a dropthrough platform. Wolf has not a hugely noticeable landing lag, but I'm sure you heard the thump with the chain-SFX when landing - that's Wolf's unique landing sound.
Wolf has 2 possibilities of this - through his Blaster and his DownB, and hell, he can even use them strategically.
If you shoot or shine while landing and don't give another button input afterwards (i.e. an aerial, fastfalling or another jump), Wolf will land without the thump and simply stand, ready to do something.
Hahaha. Funny enough, his voice is ok to me in Japanese. I prefer Wolf's Japanese, too. :(
Doshuta, doshuta?! Or whatever he says. It just sounds so kickass.
Whatever floats your boat. I simply loathe Pit. His looks, his playstyle, his weapon, his voice, his moves, his trophies, his role in the SSE, his alt costumes, his stage, his music, EVERYTHING.
D: I will... once I get melee as well :p Which should be fairly soon. But I like my noobchuck, it makes people respect me when they find out I'm a passable player :(

Blackmail, oh how I love it xD

I'm going to take the last bit of your PM and respond here, so my PM box stops overflowing, hopefully that's okay >_> I'm more or less the same, fairly open in general as long as nothing drags me into a bad mood lol. Sleep, I should go get some about now ._.
I haven't seen many Wolf videos, unfortunately.

As for getting into new characters. The thing is, I play more to learn how the character works, what they can and can't do and how the opponent can get around the good stuff and exploit the weak stuff.
Not yet! I haven't read anything on Wolf yet, I first wanna try and toy! That's what I usually do. First fool around, then reading stuff up. Though this time I'm gonna do experiments. Last time I did this was when I was maining Bowser. God that's like a half year ago, haha.
SideB, right? I'm not sure about it. If something's found it's going to be hard to be pulled off.
I'm also going to mess around with platforms. Platforms are the most glitched thing in this game. No landing lag for Snake if he lands on a dropthrough if he holds a grenade. Bowser's Klaw shenaningans, etc.
Just trying around. Experimenting with moves that may have odd capabilities is necessary to advance metagame. That's how several characters advanced - look at the ICs' desynchs.
Yea, it was unbelievable. I was like "FFFFFFUUUUU, I won't make it", and floop, suddenly the UpB goes aaaaaaaaaalllllll the way up along the stage's outline and I hang on the ledge. I was like O_O.

    I only get gimped if I don't know my opponent's character's options very well, or if I don't care/am in a slump.
Near the middle underneath it. :3
And I hardly ever get gimped (unless I play a character for the first time or so, haha).
I'm not good :< I still can't get boostsmashing down consistently with my controls (I swear it's easier on gc, don't believe what anyone else tells you lol), my DI is garbage, I tend to go on autopilot sometimes with shff bairs, I'm too predictable, etc etc. I mean, I'm not horrible, but there's a lot of work to be done.

Yeah, it's pretty helpful. Especially when people kinda owe you from before/ when you're a really good friend anyways :D
I recovered from like almost beneath Battlefield with his UpB, lol. It's ridiculous. Besides this, I don't go offstage in the sense of like going extremely far out, but rather still close to the stage, but still getting a hit or two.
And yea, I kinda saw that about his airgame. I have huge trouble against Marths usually, but with Wolf I had absolutely no problem so far. <3
Yeah, math actually becomes somewhat interesting at higher levels, you can see actual application of it to real-life problems.

Uhh, I have no idea. Arc can't go though :(

No, not funny. Miserable :( But I have people I can "coerce" to get "assistance" from, if need be, so it's not that bad >_>
I was actually surprised by the speed of his aerials - I hardly play waffles (although having Gheb here, but he rarely plays Wolf against me lol), so I was like "OMG". It's interesting, cause this guy does have aerial combos (or at least strings). I played a Luigi (granted, CPU, but still) and was like... 60% just by stringing some aerials together. It's kinda awesome. His offstage game is really swell and surprising, too. I DAir'd Wario the moment he got out his bike, lol.
I think with Wolf I can learn to properly get offstage. I'm a little bit of a coward when it comes to Offstage game, but with Wolf I feel comfortable doing so.

Yea, the same. SideB, whoosh dead. D:

I recognized. I mean, I'm actually good at recovering, I play Zero Suit Samus after all, and there you have to recover correctly, too. But Wolf, unlike the majority of the cast, doesn't have the same ledge sweetspot - it's far smaller. Though the distance his UpB can cover is amazing, and his aerial movement is, too.
It's less the UpB for me, hahaha. Though his recovery sucks, it's awful that he doesn't grab the ledge so well. x_X I'm also really used to Fox and Falco's SideB, so I kinda used it without thinking and of course missed.
I also SD'd so many times, lol. Though I had some very nice strings, too.
So, I like, toyed around right now with Wolf, and he's still as fun as I remember him... and suddenly, after so long time and getting better with the game in general, I am so much better with him, haha.
Ehhh.... I'm taking multivariable calculus this year.... I think I'm set lol. Fortunately, math is my thing :bee:

I'm leaving at 3 PM to go to NorCal, hopefully I don't suck at Choice's smashfest lol... it's been forever since I've played, stupid summer work :(

Also, I have one week to read three books and write 30 100 page journal entries for school. Want to bet on if I'll finish it all? lol
I don't give a **** about Melee, lol. I tried to play the game, got pissed on by the local Melee community, they can kiss my boot. I don't really care about it anymore.

I like Brawl better, it fits better for me and my physical handicaps due to its lack of complicated button inputs and general slower gameplay and Smashville is my favourite stage of all time with the only exception of 64's Saffron City. Also, Wolf. God, I love Wolf. And yes, in that way. >:3
Yea, while Brawl isn't as popular as Melee here in Vienna, I still play with a few people now and then. Nothing worth a mention or absolutely regular though. But I kinda want to change that, anyway.
Yea. I know, lol. It's even worse here in Europe. Especially because the European branches of the companies don't give a **** about their players. Only exception is Sega, they're really awesome. I'm a staff member on Radiosega.net, a webradio dedicated to Sega music. Sega of Europe has given us prizes to give for contests and support RadioSega a lot. It's awesome. But otherwise, especially Nintendo, they're like "Kiss my ***, nub".

I wrote a lot when I was a bit younger. I haven't written since I've moved out, except for one or two chapters of a story which I didn't finish (the parts that I did post openly were well-recieved, tho. But it's in German so I can't give it to you, lol). I guess I should maybe try it again...
I know. However, you in America you get a lot of games (Europe doesn't get like half the games that America gets, which is like half the games Japan gets, lol), you have arcades, and you have whole companies dedicated to video gaming and eSports (MLG, lolz), you have other companies sponsor and support tournaments. Europe has nothing of that. There's only a few things that are supported, mainly PC games, because they have good internet connections. I was playing Quake 3 competitively when I was a kid, I was one of Europe's finest, and Europe has one of the best players in the world when it comes to FPS. But that's basically it. Arcades? Rarely, usually only available in the biggest cities, and even there only a handful, like one or two. People here have that mindset that video games are stuff for kids. You can't bring your interest into video games to the table without being thought of as childish. You know, hosting a tournament with 100 people, organizing the whole stuff pretty much alone... that's a huge experience you get and very useful for pretty much everything you do, but you can't tell people that unless it's a shop dedicated to gaming. >_<

If you want to write, get a notebook. :D That's far better than writing by hand.
Well, I think hosting lots of tournaments and have people bring their friends is the best solution to solve that. I actually have the goal of making video games in general accepted by the European public to be not only kids' stuff. That's my big dream.

And I can, if I sleep in between I'm all refreshed lol.
Ok I told him, seeing as how I'm talking to him on AIM as we speak. LOL.
As so you're going to CCBC? That's great. We'll see alot of each other then.
    \o/

Oh, I think we got some really good players. Of course, since the scene is FAR smaller than America's we got overall less players and less good players, but I think the top of European players could very well win major US events or at least place Top 8. Luigi Player, Austria's best player, is one of those. He's really really good. Same goes for istudying from the Netherlands. I wouldn't even put Armada into the Top list, there's some more players who're better than him. And he placed 16th at Genesis with a Mid Tier and not concentrating on Brawl. So... :p

That really depends on how severe the pain is. Sometimes like 15 minutes are enough, sometimes I need a whole hour.

Also, I made my first contribution on the Wolf boards earlier. :D YEAHUZZ!
Yea, I'll suggest my rehauling later. :3

I'm located in Austria, Europe - same city as Gheb, Vienna. Which is also where I plan to host my tournament at.

I simply can't use my hands to hold something. I can, for instance, type or so, but holding a controller is neigh impossible since my hands hurt a lot.
So you'll be going up there more ofthen then? Good good. Do you have a messenger? It'll be easier this way to know if we are going to meet?
Yes, Bowsers troll. Some of them are cool cats, but some are awful and flame a lot. Trying to start discussions or so there is horrible - they're very inactive and spiteful.

Yea, I know. When Rookie and co were around more, the boards were really really harsh and cold. It was also chaotic because they had no active mod. Now we have, though, and with my help (since I got the ball rolling after all), the Fox boards are becoming a far better place. Be sure to check them out some time, especially my matchup index and my board directory. I love organizing stuff and make it look pretty. <3 And yea, if you want to show a vid of your Fox, you'd be very welcome. The Foxes love to see vids of other good Foxes. :3

Wolf seems to have a very tight and open community. I know Gheb personally, and that talk with you actually kinda made me check them out. I also know menardi, but he seems to not post as often anymore. I just posted there and already feel welcome, which is a good sign. If you guys want, I can try to do the same things for you that I did with Fox and Bowser boards: Have a kickass directory thread, and sparking some discussion or rearrange the matchup index and the boards in general.

As for tourneys... Not yet, only smashfests, but I'm actually trying to get a tournament series rollin', as well as try to have smashfests, too.
I'm more of a host than a player... due to some physical handicap (I have a joint defect) I can't play very long without my fingers starting to hurt like a *****. Brawl's speed actually is pretty comfortable for me and I'm not that bad at the game (I lack a lot of experience tho, lol), but it still sucks that I can't play longer than, say, 2-3 hours before I have to take a break.

Also, again, I'm really off and on. One day when we trained, I was pretty close to Austria's best (and probably one of Europe's Top 5) player, beat him some times, too... and like a week later at a Smashfets, I got pwned by random scrubs.
I heard about that. I can't believe you were there on Wednesday. I talked to Yipz (The Olimar Main) and I heard he went to your house. X_X

Naw I just catch the bus up there.
lol, I dunno. Peach boards are an exception of that, I can't really put them anywhere.

And D Tier and lower are either spam or flame fests, usually... Bowsers are the best trolls, Jiggles and Zeldas are the spammiest swamps on SWF. Link Boards are simply dead. ... lol, it's awful.

The Fox boards have been known to be a very awful place for very long, but that's long ago... Some people that hurt the boards are less active now, and there's quite a bunch of new Fox players lately. I'm actually very happy, because a bigger community means that people are starting to get interested into Fox. Which means that his chances of having his metagame advanced are growing.
Wolf doesn't seem to do so well in attracting new players, and I think his high learning curve is among the reasons. I mean, I can do ok with like almost the whole cast, but Wolf is still giving me trouble although I played him since release. It's odd how it's the same story with Wario, haha.
Usually I'm off and on. There's days I can easily 5-stock CPUs with my Wario and sometimes I struggle against them. I dunno why I'm so inconsistent with that.
I'm part of the Fox boards, and I'm also lurking many other boards. And as said, the Mid Tiers (especially through C Tier, lol) have among the tightest communities I know.
It's really interesting how the Mid Tiers' character boards seem to have the tightest communities.
