Best button and stick layout for the Pro controller

Short hopping is fine on the Pro Controller. I think the GC controller is slightly easier because you can slide your thumb off the right side of the jump button. Other than that though there is no difference.

Best button and stick layout for the Pro controller

Well the standard layout is pretty good. The only thing I would really recommend is changing the right stick to Tilt instead of Smash. I also changed L to jump but I only use it in certain situations. You should be using X to jump almost exclusively, only using Y when you need to do a jump into...

Why are some stages beneficial to some characters and others not?

Not only the layouts, but the blast zones can be closer or further from the stage as well. Some stages have a lower ceiling which is beneficial to characters who have an easier time KOing from the top.

How do i fix my mistakes and improve as a new SSB and FG player?

Yes after the match is over you can press Y I think during the results screen. It's on the lower right part of the screen.

What is your take on ultimate space animals?

Light is having great success with Fox. Even Chrom has a hard time keeping up with him. Larry Lurr has been playing Falco recently with decent success too. I have yet to see Wolf enter Grand Finals but I haven't watched too many videos. My opinion is Fox>Falco>Wolf

How do i fix my mistakes and improve as a new SSB and FG player?

First of all I actually read the post :) And don't feel bad about using Cloud. People complained about him in the last game because his hitboxes were ridiculously big and he was just an extremely good character overall. He has been toned down a lot in this game but he'a still very solid so...

    Training Mode "Shuffling"

I think it's supposed to be DI but I think everyone agrees that it doesn't do a good job of emulating what an actual human can do. Your best bet is to grab another controller and DI manually.

    How to deal with pikachu?

Pikach can be a real pain if the player is good. All his aerials auto cancel and come out super quick. As others said, his biggest weakness is his range and also his light weight. Roy is a decent option but is unable to make use of his range advantage due to the sweet spot mechanic. Unless you...

    Gamecube Controllers... Interesting Discovery

They probably work with any game that is compatible with the pro controller. As long as you don't need the L button, you're good to go.

    Varying Illusion Lengths Confirmed?

Yeah this will definitely come in handy. Want to go alittle further? Just hold forward. Want to go a little shorter? Just hold back. Most of us were probably already using the farther version anyway but it's good to know you can control the distance slightly.

    Fox Shield cancel shine

Ah you are correct it is frame 3. Could have sworn I read it was 2 somewhere.

    How to kill as fox?

You can still drag down Fair to jab lock. Timing is tricky but it still works. If they tech in place you can land any attack before they can shield or spot dodge. If a lvl 9 CPU can't avoid it then no human can. If they miss the tech you can jab lock into whatever the heck you want. I used to...

    Possible New Tech

Ah well. I'm sure it will be useful for people like me who weren't aware of it. But I also found out you can cancel it on the ground by pressing and releasing the shield button like a short hop. Is this old news as well?

so how much do we think directional air dodging is actually gonna shake up the meta?

Does this game even have a META yet? Obviously an additional defensive option will change the way we play. But it's balanced in that if you use it to dodge an attack, you likely can't attack back until you land, and once you land, you can't do anything for 18 frames. If your opponent reads your...

    Instant R.A.R Tech

The back air works like this. Dash Forward Right stick Backwards Jump The left stick should be pointing forward the whole time. That's the main reason of using this technique. It allows you to more easily continue your forward momentum while performing RARs.
