Data Kadano's perfect Marth class -- advanced frame data application

I've compiled a couple sets of frame windows for various Marth maneuvers here: http://tinyurl.com/qxaveoh SH double fair is in one of the sheets. TL;DR: the frame window for the second fair ranges from 1 to 5 frames depending on how quickly you get the first fair out.

    Tips for waveshining?

You have to pause slightly before you JC the shine — it's not ASAP. With hitlag, you must wait 6 frames before inputting the jump cancel or it will fail. You are almost certainly inputting the jump too quickly. That's probably what is happening and may also be related to why resetting to...

    Downthrow off the stage into?

Side-B can be a good alternative to mix up the timing, too.

    Tips for waveshining?

Returning the control stick back to neutral provides no functional advantage. It's not necessary to do so in order to waveshine. You can just control stick down, B, jump, roll the control stick to wavedash angle, air dodge.

Data Kadano's perfect Marth class -- advanced frame data application

What actually happens during the (11?) frames that Marth's counter is activating, right before the hitboxes come out? It seems similar to hitlag freeze frames in the sense that the characters stop advancing frames, but neither character is able to SDI during this time (for obvious reasons). Is...

Who to watch in Jiggs matchup

I second the ARC recommendation. His trademark pivot fsmashes are really good in this matchup.

    Downthrow off the stage into?

If you read that they're going to go low and try to sweetspot quickly enough, then you might be able just to run off the ledge and DJ into fair to gimp them. This will work much better versus Falco because his Up-B doesn't have a hitbox so you don't have to worry as much about spacing the fair...

    Auto Cancel Nair

3 frames can be the difference between a follow-up and no follow-up. Is 4 frames significant? 6 frames? 10 frames? Every frame counts, and if you can optimize 3 frames away with a relatively very easy tech, why not? I agree. AC nair isn't strictly better at all. Even if it takes the same...

    Auto Cancel Nair

The standard landing lag for Marth's nair is 15 frames; when it's L-Cancelled, the landing lag is 7 frames. An auto-cancelled aerial reduced landing lag to normal landing lag, which is 4 frames. So an auto-cancelled nair is 3 frames faster than an L-Cancelled nair.

Important Carefully Ask PPMD about the Tiara Guy

That frame window is actually quite a bit larger than 1 frame. If you get a frame-perfect (or 1-frame from perfect) DJ, it's a 4-frame window for Neutral-B. You can hit DJ on frame 6 of the fall and it's still a 3-frame window for the Neutral-B.

    Marth's Tipper

It's my understanding that you must hit with only the outermost hitbox of the attack (the exception I know of being d-air, for which the tipper hitbox takes priority). I think that if both the tipper hitbox and another hitbox connect with the hurtbox at the same time, the non-tipper hitbox takes...

    How To Practice Powershielding?

One way is just to use a second controller to hit B (since you really only need one hand to PS or walk PS or dash PS). Alternatively, level 9 Falco on FD; generally, he'll walk across the screen and shoot a few lasers on the way. Once he gets to your side, grab/throw him and run to the other...

Important Carefully Ask PPMD about the Tiara Guy

To supplement: I wouldn't be too worried about mixing up forward+A and C-stick for double fairs (I think M2K does c-stick -> A sometimes); however, I think c-stick is a superior option in most cases, as it allows you to perform better DI during the f-airs so that you can space better. That...

    Marth Grab Options

U-throw on fast fallers (Fox, Falco especially; also CF and Sheik) is good to either chain grab or u-tilt/u-air into aerial combos. D-throw fsmash tipper is good to throw people off who are DIing forward if you think they'll miss the tech. Marth has fake F-throw CGs versus a lot of the cast at...

Short hop bair > jump > fair?

The main consideration is that jump comes out on frame 1 while f-air's first hitbox doesn't come out until frame 4. A f1 or f2 f-air gives you a 5-frame window for a second f-air which projects a hitbox. If you "count" the SH double fairs that don't extend a hitbox, then that frame window is...
