Try to begin wrapping your head around crouch cancel. CC dsmash and CC grab are gonna be two of your most used options, so it's imperative you begin playing melee with an understanding of that mechanic.

Don't get hit and then punish the lag or do cool shieldstun desyncs

I call upair or dash attack into up-b "The PM Combo" because it's so free in that game and kils at like 50. In Melee, its KB is pretty low so unless you're sure it'll kill it's probably not worth. That said, I use it against people who suck quite a bit lol It's also decent for hitting peaches...

Are there any KO punch setups at high percents? Dtilt stops working after a while.

Ugh bair nerf. It sucks to have literally ONE kill move now in the form of bouncing fish, but at least bair will lead into it sometimes. Sucks because like half my kills were bair edgeguards offstage, but I'll adapt I guess.

T&C and Smashville are always going to be super subjective, you just have to play on them for a while and work out your own opinion of them. Lylat, on the other hand, gets better in my mind every time I play on it.

Yeah Gordos are weird on Lylat. I think the movement of the stage is what causes Gordos to disappear. If the stage is moving upward, they'll bounce 3 times in super quick succession and just disappear.
