Honestly, I seem to get my cape whiffed when I attempt to stop a Fire Fox. I mean even if I do manage to successfully cape, I still get damaged. What's the proper timing for that? -

Dude I personally have mained Mario since the original Super Smash Bros but these days people are always trashing him. I'm really good (I think) but I wanna get better...like tourney good. Then, Marios everywhere can rub it in the faces of those who are tier scrubs :D -

It'd be nice to see a video like Juxtapose suggested. I do believe I'm quite a good Mario, however I don't know his advanced techniques (cape gliding and such) so any help would be great.
