Mojang AB's contract with Microsoft may have allowed them to retain ownership of Minecraft in case of a split. I know that Sea of Thieves is copyrighted to Microsoft on the game's website but Minecraft is copyrighted to Mojang on Mojang's website.

I think Steve is more of a Mojang AB representative than a Microsoft one.

It looked like something I would enjoy, but the game doesn't look like a good showcase of what the Series X can do. Too many pop in, no raytracing. Maybe they ran it on PC.

Likely Studio 4J, Tantalus Media or Saber Interactive. There aren't many that I can think of with the talent to port game engines anymore.
