Dude, you don't need to show vids of yourself to get respect and so on. Take me for example, no one's ever seen any vids of me and that's probably a good thing (I'm the first to admit that).
There are a few ways to do it though, from what I've seen. You can do really well in tourneys and post results/vids. You can test stuff and try to advance the metagame. You can be a troll (not recomended but some people seem to get by like this). You can post ineligently in things like matchup discussions and move set discussions. Hell, you can make your own thread and if it kicks off and ends up getting a lot of attention, well there you go (as for what the thread is about, well that's up to you. It's a bit of a gamble though so make sure you know what you're talking about).
It all depends on what you're best at. Me personally, I prefer the technical stuff and advancing the metagame, but it's not easy.
