I think you're both wrong. Somewhere on IGN, they said that very few games would be backwards compatible at first, but the number would grow over time. How? I don't know. But just as long as most of the games I wanted to play for Xbox are backwards compatible for Xbox 360, that'll be fine.

I doubt they'd waste their time remaking a Gamecube game if it's already backwards compatible, no matter how cool it would be online. True, they could always just remake it and re-market it, but Nintendo probably has better things to do than re-program the data in a game to make it online.
