Montreal Thread - You better comming!!!1

For people having connection problems, this may be old news but I picked up the LAN Adapter at Future Shop and it made a big difference in the quality of my matches. There is a ton of wifi in my neighborhood so there was a lot of interference. I would';t get dropped or anything, it was just...

Montreal Thread - You better comming!!!1

Thanks for that list. I added everyone. I'm usually on in the afternoons and late at night. I'm no expert or anything, but I play decently, I think. I'm kinda too good for the AI and too bad for the pros. :/

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

How hard is it to jump on a stationary target's head, esp given Brawls air control? I'm doing it over and over again in training. It's really easy. A shielding person isn't going anywhere. Also the trajectory of the second jump doesn't matter because you attack before you even rise up into...

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

How is that different from the approach in Melee? actually, thinking about it, most u-smashes are way to slow for this kind of reaction.

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

Seriously, right now I don't see a reason why this isn't a really big deal for the smash game. There is now a way to punish a shield from the air! Shield grabbing just got a giant nerf.

Like everything in fighting games u-smash only counter it if you know it's coming. it's not like you can just u- smash every air attack, if you guess wrong, or the player attacks late you are punished and again you've been forced to stop camping. Go try it. Aren't you interested?

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

So apparently I pointed out that you can now basically grab characters from the air, that shield camping is a terrible idea, and that turtling doesn't work in brawl for THIS VERY REASON and everyone totally ****ing ignored it. It's like it doesn't even exist! Like I said before, you're so...

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

I was a really really hardcore Quake player, and Brawls release is like one big flashback to Qauke 3's release. Quake 3 was "dumbed down" by a lot of people's standards at first. People were PISSED about it, worse than this. You need to give yourself time to get to know Brawl. Let it sink...

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

It's pretty telling that none of that haters are even mentioning the footstool jumping. So determined to hate :(.

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

Quake 4 didn't fail because it was a bad game or because it was made as a party game (which I don't agree with, and really wish people would stop satating this opinion as an indisputable fact. The people who created this game know more about how it works than anyone else int he world. Great...

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

I'm not sure what you mean. Against bots it opens the shield briefly while the player flinches. More than enough time to sneak in an attack. If you can't reliably shield against a large portion of the roster jumping in...the game changes quite a bit...head is currently spinning with...

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

I wonder if the footstool shield break was put in for pro players. They had to decide to have it break the shield, and they must have done that for a reason, otherwise they'd just make you jump off the shield. I'm surprised this isn't getting more play...it seems like a big deal to me. Yoshi...

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

Wow, so that adds a whole new layer to the air approach mind game. I'm going to have to incorperate this one, it works with all my favorite characters.

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

You can footstool jump to break a shield and then down-a attack them before you go up (or down b with warrio). Could gimp shield grabbers unless I'm missing something. Should work for any character with a quick down air that goes down or stays stationary....****, like toon link. It seems to...

Scar on the Melee vs Brawl debate: What does competitive really mean?

Hey that footstool thing with Lucas actually works.... Someone needs to try this against a real person. it seems to kinda work with Yoshi too. Yoshi might have just gotten a lot better. So many characters to try.
