Oh, definitely. Whites have good grab range too and do a ton of pummel damage.

Personally I love using Reds and Blues for the Bowser MU. The grab range on the blues really help a lot plus both of these pikmin can do tons of damage on him while still being able to combo. Whites are also useful for throwing since they're harder to dodge, especially for someone as big as Bowser.

I discovered this on my own a couple days ago and I was just about to post this. At low percents I've been able to nair from below and grab pretty fast. Unfortunately it takes really good timing to do this correctly

That's usually because it's impossible for them to recover no matter what they try, so they kill themselves just to make the match go faster.
