Q&A Official FAQ and QnA Thread - Ask Your Questions Here!

This may be a common knowledge question here, so I'll post in the FAQ thread. I'm looking at the 6-player mode in Melee USA v1.0 which can be accessed by an AR or Ocarina code. I'm trying to find the controller data for P5 and P6 when they are set to human-controlled. P5 was easy to find...

Melee online for the Wii? Wii can make it happen.

Hey, not sure if anyone remembers me, I was heavily involved with the GCARS-CS scene back when it was actively being maintained. Fuzziqer is a 1st-year Caltech student now, and has virtually no free time to work on GCARS-CS. However, I'm doing a science fair project involving getting something...

PLAY SSBM ONLINE!!! ~Tutorial updates, & vid of my first online match!!~

Wireless connections between the Cube and the router will usually work, but will introduce extra lag (I am told around 5-10ms). This normally isn't a big deal on GCARS-CS, but if you're planning to use LAN tunnelers like Xlink Kai or Warp Pipe, you'll want wired for the best gameplay. As for...

PLAY SSBM ONLINE!!! ~Tutorial updates, & vid of my first online match!!~

Rubber-banding occurs when on your Cube, you hit your opponent with a smash, but on your opponent's Cube, you missed (this discrepancy is usually caused by lag). Because the XY coords of your opponent are being synced from their Cube to yours, and they're staying still on their Cube but have a...

PLAY SSBM ONLINE!!! ~Tutorial updates, & vid of my first online match!!~

I used to play Sonic Adventure 2: Battle quite often with GCARS-CS, often with pings over 110ms, and there was no noticible lag. Obviously, fighting games like SSBM are somewhat more sensitive to lag, but I am told it's still quite fun. As for Wii support: it doesn't work because GCARS-CS...

PLAY SSBM ONLINE!!! ~Tutorial updates, & vid of my first online match!!~

Actually, there are several. Dolphin, GCube, Dolwin, and Whinecube, just to name some from memory. If I remembr correctly (it's been ages since I looked at them), many games work correctly, but at very low framerates (e.g. 10fps with a really good PC). The only game that works perfectly and...

ControlSim is finished! Now you can play any GC game online!

Sorry for not replying for a while, I've been swamped with schoolwork. Yes, there is some ping-dependent lag, as with all online games. When I tested Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, I played with someone who has a ping with me of about 110ms, and there was no noticible lag. Obviously, a fighting...

No, it won't hurt your computer or GameCube. Worst that can happen is if you don't read the readme and try to restore a raw memcard image in its memcard manager (it doesn't work and will corrupt your card). ControlSim itself won't hurt your memcard or anything else.

I think he's still working on it. GCARS-CS v0.9.5 was released recently; it's available on Fuzziqer's web site.

Which only works once you've already loaded GCARS-CS onto your GameCube. So, you'll still need a .dol loading method.

ControlSim is finished! Now you can play any GC game online!

If you don't want to read through this thread to find the answer to a question that has been answered multiple times, not too many people are going to want to help you. However, if you want to know how well it works, I recall that a video that showed the network setup screen and gameplay...

Yes. I'm not sure what you mean by this; could you be more specific? It depends on whether you want to go through the trouble of setting it up (buying a Max Drive Pro and a broadband adapter, and possibly a router and Ethernet cables if you don't already have them). Also, it would help if...

ControlSim is finished! Now you can play any GC game online!

Have you actually played it online? From what I've heard from testers, it's very fun as long as you have a decent ping. Online SSBM will never be perfect (just like every other online fighting game), but it's still enjoyable from what I've heard. That's a little optimistic. It's true that...

Unfortunately, I'm no good at n00b-friendly instructions, but I'll try to help as best I can. First off, I'd like to thank you for at least trying to read the whole thread before posting; that shows that you're at least trying, so thanks. Second, unfortunately, you have SSBM v1.1, which...

ControlSim is finished! Now you can play any GC game online!

I have no experience with ICS; I use a router. So, sorry, I can't help you. Feel free to ask on Team Xlink, they can probably help you. If you had read the whole thread, you would have found out that you'll probably need extra hardware. You will definitely need a broadband adapter. You...
