  • Hi. I was looking at my post history today, looking for a thread that sticks out to me in my memory. In this thread, a user posted some videos, the most notable of which to me was "Nuances of Neutral." That video and the concepts within the thread were a major turn for me in going from someone who just knew how to press buttons to understanding the game on a deeper level. Well, I found that thread, and that user was you, so, I thought I would just say... thank you.
    Here is the thread https://smashboards.com/threads/what-techniques-should-a-new-competitive-player-learn-before-they-decide-to-enter-tournaments.452035/
    Today has left me weary.

Weary about what? What happened in Charlottesville and the white nationalist?

Yeah, but I always knew they were there from YouTube comments.
    Joey bada$$'s latest album?

This guy Sho Baraka and his talented Xth. I'm sorta cool with Kodak, but he's not someone I really really like.

But it's just been saxophone and trumpet players is what I'm mostly listening to now (Kamasi Washington, Christian Scott, Herbie Hancock, terrace Martin, and thundercat).

And it's scary how few smashers know about this stuff in detail and how many thinks you either approach or "camp" (never liked that term, preferred turtle).

I noticed you put conscious rap as it's own genre on an album review. It's a shame that we'd have to do that now :(

I mean, rap doesn't have to be conscious to be good. It just needs to be real. Sadly, a lot of albums out just glorifies street violence and materialistic things, which promotes an evil message. People like k.dot, lecrae, j Cole, Big Krit, Chance the rapper, GoldLink, eshon burgundy, sho Baraka, Corey Paul, Reconcile, Joey bada$*, and many others are some examples of artists staying honest while creating quality art.
