The Super Fighting Robot - Moveset Analysis

The Super Fighting Robot - Moveset Analysis

Game Versions
Smash 3DS, Smash Wii U
DISCLAIMER: This is a moveset analysis.

-Neutral-A, Forward Tilt, and Neutral-Air: Mega Buster (AKA: Lemon Cannon)
This is Mega Man's most basic weapon. It can be fired in groups of up to three, and then there is a short pause before you can fire again. It does 1-2% per hit with a short hitstun effect. Interestingly enough, if you hit an enemy while they are right in front of you, it causes a small amount of actual knockback.

-Up-Tilt: Mega Upper:
This is a powerful uppercut Mega Man delivers extremely quickly. The damage and knockback is especially powerful if you hit the opponent while they are directly next to you. Does 17%.

-Down-Tilt: Slide
A basic sliding kick. Does about 6-7% damage with medium mostly-vertical knockback.

-Dash Attack: Top Spin
This is one of my more favorite attacks. Mega Man spins forward with a tornado around him, doing multi-hits with a finishing hit that has medium knockback, usually knocks down the opponent when they land. Does about 10% if you hit them with the full attack.

-Forward-Air: Flame Sword
A low-knockback, low-damage, but quick downward swipe with a fire blade. Does 7-8%.

-Back-Air: Slash Claw
An extremely fast two-hit slice behind MM. Can do up to 10% with medium knockback if you 'sweetspot' it.

-Up-Air: Air Shooter
A good attack for comboing, Air Shooter is a upwards-shot tornado that traps opponents in place, continually hitting them. (Hard to say the amount of damage, since it depends on how long they're in the tornado)

-Down-Air: Hard Knuckle
A slow but powerful short-range projectile shot downwards with force. Is a meteor smash. Does around 13% damage. (Interesting Fact: If you hit an opponent while they are inside of you, the knockback is sideways instead of downwards. Also, this move stalls you in midair for a moment, so you can actually gain a bit of horizontal distance with the startup)

-Neutral Special: Metal Blade
Sadly, all of Mega Man's default specials, aside from his Up Special, suck. This one fires a Metal Blade in any of 8 directions, you hit a direction right after MM reachs behind him to grab the blade. Does about 6%. A nice thing about this though, is that it does pierce.

-Side Special: Crash Bomber
This one fires a bomber straight to the side that sticks opponents and walls before detonating a few seconds later. Does about 8%. The bomb can be transferred between players by contact, so watch out! It should also be noted that only one bomb can be onscreen at a time.

-Up Special: Rush Coil
This move summons Mega Man's best friend, Rush the Dog, to bounce him upwards with a spring in his back. Opponents can also bounce off of Rush as well!

-Down Special: Leaf Shield
Probably Mega Man's worst default special, Leaf Shield spawns a spinning shield made of four leaves around Mega Man. Each leaf will block one projectile, and you can fire the shield with another press of pretty much any button. The main problems with this move are it's slow startup and the fact that you can't even use Rush Coil when it's active. It's also extremely weak, doing only 2-3% damage.————-------------------------------------

SMASH ATTACKS

-Up Smash: Spark Shock
A powerful, multi-hit attack that does between 13-24%, depending on how much it's charged. High vertical knockback on the last hit.

-Side Smash: Charge Shot
Powerful, mid-range shot that does 13-20%. High knockback.

-Down Smash: Flame Burst
Hits on both sides, does 14-20%. High vertical knockback.

Metal blade has so many setups & uses, it is honestly amazing.
Force tech situations, gimp, 2 infinites, strong, good hitstun, many many setups, Z-cancelling gives it even more uses as it's an attack with no lag., etc.

Side-special is literally a free attack on shield, grab, free follow up, combo extender, under 40% you can do stuff like grab, cancel the grab by getting hit, perfect shield the rest of the hits (opponent will be hit), then free anything.

Leaf shield can give you a free grab,, help you get back to the ground by having hitboxes around you, gimp certain characters recoveries by simple colliding with them (fox, ness, falcon, etc)

His worst special is his up-b, he doesn't pop up too quickly & you're forced to try to get a sweetspot, so you're probably going to have to travel lower.

Even then that isn't too bad.
I appreciate the damage percent ratio you have provided. Though, the metal blade is a very handy tool to use for his "Brick Wall" approach in a match. Also, his "Lemon-Canon", as you referred to can Jab Lock an opponent due to its extensive range and mobility his Neutral A provides the player. Not bad, I would highly recommend providing videos to validate your data. Wither it be your own or from a professional. Keep it up.
"Sadly, all of Mega Man's default specials, aside from his Up Special, suck."

That statements make me feel like you did very little research.

They're very easy to dodge and almost impossible to combo into.
Good info! But needs more info. I know its a move set analysis, but can we get some combos? Just saying but This guide is "Good"
