iight mjG just got dont watching your set. very very close set. just by the way domo plays ur tl i can tell u guys played alot. theres a few things i feel u could of done to keep him out more. first thing is camping vertically, make it rain bombs. drop a bomb down or ibomb before u land or keep it in ur hand and react to the option he chooses. other thing i find really helpful in the mu is zair to grab work oh too well on mk. throw away from u so you can camp him some more. and last thing is the projectile rotation. if u keep a bomb in your hand you can beat nado almost everytime so, just make sure ur at a good distance to where you can throw your bomb and force him to ether catch it, dodge it or get hit by it. ethere way expect nado to follow up after that. only thing idk wat to go is when getting back on the stage you did good there but mk doesnt let me get back on the stage if played properly
Ill try and keep all of this in mind...the problem with a lot of this though is that he knows the MU REALLY well and he knows how to shut down most of my options at this point. Camping vertically isn't bad but like I said (and it should have happened in the vid), once I started doing this, he would get a nasty string or just shuttle loop me, which resulted in me being left off stage without a jump.

It is impossible to keep a player that knows the ins and outs of TL for a good amount of time.

@Southpaw: Ill look @ the vids shortly...ive had a busy weekend ;)

@quest
well thanks for the criticism. I really don't agree with all your points. Especially when it comes to how much I use smashes. The one I use the most when it comes to hard punishes would be dsmash since that thing like never kills but it does pretty good dmg(17%). The only smash I usually keep fresh but not always would be upsmash cuz jc upsmash is technically our fastest punish. Usually people don't live forever against TL because of stale smashes, its because our kill moves don't land.

And how do you punish marth's side-b as TL? I kno with most chars they can shieldgrab after the third db, but with TL I only know that you can grab after the last one.

oh and on a random note I will mm your marth at apex/random EC regional we may both be at

I guess I just fail at life

Please critique guys. All help will be appreciated
Try to avoid having to fight olimar on lylat. It probably isn't the worst stage to fight olimar on but it is really hard to approach olimar because of the platforms on that stage. I watched the match on lylat and I can say that you need to just stay in olimars face. There were times where it looked like you were gonna keep pressuring the olimar player but then you backed down. Limit your bomb usage in this MU. When the pikmin latch onto TL, the bomb will blow up in TLs face when he tries to throw it.
The same applies to the second game.

IF you go back and watch your matches, you will realize that Asa is just racking up damage with side b for the most part. Even if you get hit by a smash attack (which shouldn't happen since our aerials will either kill the pikmin or knock them away), olimar's smash attacks will be staled. It is better to pressure olimar and to continue staying in his face rather than to hit olimar every blue moon while olimar is continuing to throw pikmin @ you. Also, don't be afraid to grab olimar.

NOw...I found these vidsi and would REALLY appreciate a critique.

Critique this please. I think I had a slow start, and made some crucial technical errors here and there, but I do better in the 2nd half of the match.

My TL is weird. o_O

Edit: Also got this replay. I've expressed concerns with this MU a looong time ago, but I've only been able to play it until recently. I have no idea what I'm doing here.

Sorry tlm, but I think your skill level is just above a lot of us, not much I can say. I will say I really like your run through bair, great approach. I will ask a question though, are you playing too reserved once the opponent is above 135%? You certainly were protecting your stock well but I saw donkey get to 220% before you got the kill, but you won that match fairly easily, I think. Anyway thanks for recording your matches.

Clownbaby- Thanks, and yes Im very conservative and patient when Im in tourney mode. In friendlies, Im more aggro. I think thats a good thing. And thanks ^^.

Is there some unseen force, perhaps a magnetic attraction, drawing you towards your opponent in EVERY match? Do you really want to be utilted? Or blown up, in the case of Snake? Or grabbed?

...honestly Near...some of that was painful to watch. Right now you're doing perhaps 60% of it wrong. The 40% that is good is stuff like reading landings with grabs, basic bomb camping, and spacing with zair...and even that is done to a limited extent.

You need to work on camping, by mixing it up more, and making wiser choices as to what to throw and when. I just don't see *aggro* styles working today as opposed to 2-3 years ago. Maybe incorporate some arrow tech skill to confuse them, or use more full hop boomerang. SOMETHING else. Right now I'm seeing bomb throw run up airdodge catch the bomb zair, as well as other simple bomb antics, 95% of the time. Safer mixups include, but are not limited to, full hop boomerang zair, full hop bomb pull zair, bomb pull retreat SHDA run away JC throw, ah, there are so many options for you should consider. It's as if your Toon Link is on a record that keeps skipping, and skipping and skipping! GAH.

You need to adapt significantly more, and faster. I swear, against Snake after you hit him at certain moments I thought that since you saw when to grab his landings successfully, you would also catch on to his airdodging. But you didn't. It was so obvious. Airdodging could mean more grab opportunities, nair, or even usmash at kill %s. Look out for people's habits.

Jab to usmash? Almost always going for bair or utilt combos at 0%? DAIR??!? Come on.

More boomerang, use it effectively for purposes such as defense and zoning, in addition to pressure and attacking. Rewatching the Diddy match now to confirm what I've said...yeah. Almost all of your retreating results in a short hop bomb pull and then one of two things: double jump bomb drop or reverse QD. Seldom do you think to boomerang, retreating bair reverse QD, etc. See where I'm going with this?

Yes, I recognize that these were friendlies. If you want critique, then play to win and camp as you would in tourney matches. If you did, then good for you, but you have to work on a few aspects of your playstyle. Talk to me in PMs or something if you want to talk about more concrete specifics.
