Today’s update on the DOJO showed us a stage we were introduced to at the Media Summit and E 4 All. This stage looks impressive and has me bubbling with excitement. The sense of Metroid nostalgia is just pouring on me with this stage.

This stage will really outdo its predecessors in terms of chaos on the stage. First lava spills over and engulfs some of the platforms which will no doubt hurt even if you barely touch it.

On top of that, there is a wave of lava that comes flying in from the background. When this happens a safe capsule becomes available.

This capsule’s door is a throw back to the old days of Metroid, when the doors weren’t so metallic, like they are in Prime.

The idea is to shoot for dominance at this capsule in order to avoid being hit by the wave as Sakurai has made it a point to note that even some high jumps won’t be able to get past it.

You can barely dodge the massive lava wave with a great jump, but it?s a little difficult. Besides, you KNOW you want to win the battle for that safe area.

It doesn’t make it very clear, but I’m curious to how the capsule opens. Does it do it on its own or does it just close and open by shooting at it like in the old Metroid games? Maybe someone can give us an idea about the capsule.
