It isnt at all a pipe dream is a dream which is not going to happen.

On the other hand Ridley's chances are higher than Dedede in my opinion BUT who says Sakurai wants to do what we expect?

And congrats Silver for getting the 100th post i will ask Silver to make a speci- O er... never mind.

Seeing Petey, I think there might be "bosses" in story mode, which kinda depresses me seeing as it hurts Ridley's chances...

Ridley's theme on the dojo had "boss battle" in it's name.....dammit.

Who knows if other bad guys will join in other than the SA because Ridley doesn't seem like one to take orders from any one else other than his leader (Mother brain) so if they do in corporate the characters non-trophy personality it seems unlikely that Ridley will be working for SA... but its not like we have enough info at all to decide so...

Going to contact some sig-making specialists soon to see if they can come up with some good banners and such for the 1st post.

Ridley is more of a commanding character than a follower, so he may not be an unplayable boss. There might be Space Pirates or perhaps Kraid under the control of SA, but Ridley seems too valuable to be unplayable.

Actually, Petey Piranha DID make the poll. The ones you've listed are just the characters that got more than one polled responce.

And if Ridley isn't in, it will be a huge shame. My theory is that he was going to be in melee but they just didn't have time to add him or something. I mean, he's in the opening movie of melee.

And besides, these characters can be shrunk down for playable form. They did it with Bowser when he was a final boss, they'll do it for Ridley and Petey.

To be honest this thread will very quickly deteriorate into what became of the last one. Why? Because pretty much everything about Ridley has already been discussed in the backcatalogue of the 8000 pages of the last thread. If there had been anything left to discuss in that thread then it wouldn't have turned into a spamfest. Ridley being a non-playable boss? Death threats to Sakurai? Ridley's importance compared to other playable villains? Undoubtedly all discussed/been said before. Especially the "What will you do if Ridley isn't playable?" discussion. It was right to close the Ridley thread though, I'd estimate over 75% of the posts from 6500-7500 had absolutely nothing to do with Ridley being in Brawl, but like I said there wasn't really anything to discuss anyway.

On topic for a minute though, Petey was just a miniboss (or boss, whatever you prefer to call it) in the Mario games and thus his inclusion as a miniboss/boss in Brawl shouldn't affect anyone's chances. Petey won't be the final boss for Mario's story in Brawl, that of course belongs to Bowser (who is playable too), so the fact that Samus will undoubtedly have Ridley for a final boss in the story won't affect Ridley's chances of being playable. Kraid would work much better for the mini-not-actually-playable-boss midway through the adventure/story mode. Then again it may turn out that Petey is playable and either way Ridley wins.

Ridley was in more games than just Fusion. They have plenty of moves to build on from throughout his games.

Alas, a glorious era has ended. At least now we can say that Ridley has the first character support thread to span two generations.

Okay, on topic now. In thinking about who the Metroid boss would be, a question came to mind. Will you be able to choose any character you want at any time in Subspace Emissary (assuming you've "rescued" them already), or is there a fixed character for each stage? If it's the latter (which is my current prediction), they could do some really cool things for Metroid. I can easily imagine a faithful reproduction of the old Mother Brain or Kraid fights, since Brawl-Samus still has the same means of offense as she did in the original games (namely missiles). However, since there's no way to aim upwards, a flying superboss like Ridley would actually be really ill-suited for that sort of thing.

Of course, Ridley would still need to show up in the one-player game somehow. The question is...how? I can't really picture him and Samus teaming up, even under dire circumstances (I mean, he murdered her mother right in front of her and all), but it seems like Sakurai would probably want to make every character playable in Subspace Emissary somehow. Maybe instead of joining the good guys, he'd have some sort of side-story where he fights for his own sake or something?

Personally, I'd love to see Ridley in Brawl, seeing as SSB needs more Metroid representitives, but he's not my number 1 choice.

Surely I can't be the only one who thought of the following prediction...

Metroid Prime 3 will be out next week. The updates have been getting more and more information worthy of discussion lately, including newcomers. Anyway, my prediction is that Ridley will be shown as a newcomer during the week of MP 3's release. I say this as a prediction and not a theory because I hardly have any facts to back it up. How do we know Sakurai will care or not to update the Dojo site with information related to a game just released?

Maybe that could give us something to discuss not quite related to "Old topic closed? This is madness! or Subspace, which I think does seem somewhat on topic, not that I'm a mod or anything.
