I trained my modest abra on 252 level 2-6 gastlys, then 252 rattatas after i changed the game to daytime.
granted, that was after 2nd gym, since you can't get abra till goldenrod

currently playing professor layton, chrono trigger, scribblenauts, and order of ecclesia
order of ecclesia is probably the hardest castlevania game i've ever encountered.

I agree with darkatma, OoE is really hard. Especially compared to the other metroidvanias, the bosses have waaaay more HP and enemies all have resistances.
In all the others, you just beat the entire game with a whip or claymore, and never had to use crappy axe weapons.

and then Order of Ecclesia
My favorites were probably Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, they let me get completionist status the easiest, what with very easy to understand lists of monster souls and map% easily accessible

Huh. I found it really easy. I guess I didn't mind switching for resistances.
The only boss that gave me any trouble in that game was the stone cavalry knight thing.
