Well I in fact play lucario, he's one of my mains which I guess a lot of people aren't aware of :p. I played Van in a good amount of dittos when I went there for magfest and I won every ditto except one(though they were all late at night and he clearly wasn't playing his best haha). I'll be streaming a big smashfest this Sat with players like Metroid/Ripple/Darkatma if you want to see some Lucario action :).
So much sad. Metroid invited me to this no more than a few hours ago and I had to decline because of work. :(
I WANNA PLAY SMASH!!!!

what.

people please

Does anyone know how knockback heavy armor works? What dictates heavy/medium/light?

Example, Ike's Eruption has 200 (!) kb based armor, which declines to 80.

but what value is 200 compared to 80??

Edit: Don't worry guys, I figured it out myself

So basically heavy/light armor is figured out by knockback (we already knew this!), but it's directly tied to how much knockback they receive.

At the end of a typical match, the game will record a max launcher speed (which is basically the games description of knockback), and heavy armor obvs is tied to this

To find out what launcher speed your heavy/medium/light armor will absorb, simply divide the heavy armor resistance by 0.031!

Example: Ike's 200 KB Heavy Armor will absorb attacks that deal under 200/0.031 = ~6450 units per 1000 frames.

Meanwhile DK's 80 KB Heavy Armor will absorb attacks that deal under 80/0.031 = ~ 2580 units per 1000 frames!

It's worth noting that 6450 units per 1000 frames is quite a lot! It's enough to kill most characters if they're not DI'ing optimally, while 2580 is enough to intercept most attacks at low percentages!

Videos of really incredible players in Melee make me want to play Melee, but then I remember I'm bad at Melee.

How much free time can this man have on his ends ?

You remind me of myself a few years ago Aero, let me tell you the last step is 1/4 speed zoomed training mode to admire the animation of all the characters.

Oh wait no, there's trophy adrmiring too.

@ teluoborg teluoborg I have lots of free time now, I never used to, but now I do!

What is a social life and where do i find one

i froze my game when i put it in 1/4 speed since i turned on frame advance at the same time and rapidly advanced frames and the game literally exploded

That's what you get for not playing vanilla PM.

Also in order get a social life you need to go to the outernet, it's a scary place so i recommend not going withou a good weapon

Emulation > Frame Advance

You can also map it to a key for added convenience.

Word of warning though: if you're like me you may be compelled to spend hours figuring out the frame data of random crap.

I guess while we're on the subject: could any PMBR member or other knowledgable person shed some light on how air time of a jump is calculated/ what affects it?

In some testing I did, I was observing some weird phenomena like the character getting several more frames of air time when DIing to either side than with neutral DI, and slightly fewer frames but still more than neutral when DIing up.

Is there a way to calculate the air time in frames a character will get from a jump with just the attribute values like jump velocity and fall speed?

On this day, thanks to Ganon's Usmash I have finally beaten intense mode.

That mode has too many shenanigans. Mostly metal ridley and Tabuu though.

Meta Ridley is probably the easiest boss of them all. Now Duon on the other hand...

Saito, every time you post, you make my day. That gif is mesmerizing..
