EVO RULESET ANNOUNCED. The ruleset has been updated!

To be fair, though, the Pikachu ran right into the trophy's attacks like 2 or 3 times.

EVO RULESET ANNOUNCED. The ruleset has been updated!

Dude, he has like 0.3 seconds to react. If he had just jumped then the Pikachu would have hit it, most likely, and he would have won. He had an opportunity and blew it. Edit: He wasn't even in the middle of a move when it appeared onscreen!

EVO RULESET ANNOUNCED. The ruleset has been updated!

Actually, it's completely in the players' control. What movements you send to a system are completely in your control, and they are what determines where the random seed goes. That's why it's possible to beat RPGs in 18 minutes: http://tasvideos.org/469M.html

Yeah but then you're able to tell that the beam is going to be fired roughly 0.05 seconds faster than you normally would be able to.

EVO RULESET ANNOUNCED. The ruleset has been updated!

Not if he decides to fire it based on random circumstances. And now for something constructive: Wouldn't a skilled player be looking at his opponent's controller and watching his moves from the source instead of reacting to them onscreen?

If you opponent fires them at a random time then they are.

EVO RULESET ANNOUNCED. The ruleset has been updated!

Real skill involves being able to predict where items fall before they appear by analyzing the random number seed in a given Wii. Or, y'know, being able to pay attention to more than one thing on the screen at once. I hear that's a good skill to learn.

EVO RULESET ANNOUNCED. The ruleset has been updated!

Samus's charged beams are over powered, they are very fast, they can be moved by attacks, and if it hits someone with significant damage -- they're dead. You can use your imagination for the situations this would cause an issue with.

EVO RULESET ANNOUNCED. The ruleset has been updated!

Brawl has not been out for 5 years. It has been out for about 2 months. It is not Melee.

    Glide Technique

Gah, you have to have really good timing to do this. There's like only a window of a few frames to do this. The risk of screwing it up is pretty high.

    Gamecube controllers only?

Keep the Wiimotes at the same Wiis, then. It's not like people have a shortage of GC controllers and wiimotes. The game automatically selects an open player slot when you activate a Wiimote, so it's not like you'd have to get the right player number, either. Also, believe it or not, but GASP...

    PlaynTrade is terrible at tourneys

Looks like you should brush up on your secret team skills. Figure out how to win and do it, or ask. Don't just complain that you're not on your home turf. I'm sure you can figure out something.

    Gamecube controllers only?

Most likely people calling the WAHHmbulance because their batteries ran out (or people falesly claiming that batteries ran out). The Wii has a battery-life menu every time you hit the home button. Just check it before each match and bring your own batteries. Unjustified worry. I love the...

Best Idea you will ever see for Smashballs

Yes, there are many items in Brawl that destroy any competitive nature (I'd estimate about 80% of them - banana peels and smoke balls are pure strategy, but that's for another discussion), Smash Balls are not game-makers. Reaching the smash ball, breaking it open, executing a final smash, and...
