Just a neat idea. Post which Zelda characters you think best fit each of the classic "alignments.

Lawful Good: Zelda (compassion, honor, a sense of duty, etc.)
Neutral Good: Midna (a huge "benefactor", acts very altruistically, capable of bending the rules)
Chaotic Good: Link (does what he needs to save the world, even rob people :3)

Lawful Neutral: Having trouble finding someone to fit this bill. This would be a "Judge" sort of person...
True Neutral: The Triforce itself (not a character, but it does not discern good from evil).
Chaotic Neutral: King Bublin ("I follow the strongest side, it is all I have ever known.")

Lawful Evil: Zant (A sense or "order" and ruling over it, very obedient of his superior, Ganon)
Neutral Evil: Ganondorf (Selfish, no qualms about inflicting pain, known to betray and use people)
Chaotic Evil: Malladus ("This vessel is rejecting my body... but the world will crumble in the time I have left!!!")

Thought, comments, your own ideas?

Ummm. This thread makes as much sense as a monkey on a football.
Play D&D and it will make much more sense.

Lawful Good: Saria, Ruto, Impa, Darunia, Nabooru, Rauru
Chaotic Neutral: Tingle, Skull Kid
Lawful Evil or Chaotic Neutral: Fierce Deity
Lawful Evil: Veran, Onox
Neutral Evil: Twinrova, Vaati
Chaotic Evil: Majora

^ I'm not saying give new examples, I'm just saying give good examples of a character you think fits each alignment well. You can do people we've already said.

Here, I'll help you out:
Ummm. This thread makes as much sense as a monkey on a football.
"I don't understand the premise of this thread."
What I mean is after 3 posts you run out of people because there are so few major characters in Zelda.
"When I said 'I don't understand the premise of this thread' I meant to say that it's pointless."

Don't lie.

I suppose a Chaotic Neutral would probably be best summed up with the Happy Mask man. He seems to bear no burden on any side of the spectrum. If Link fails and the moon plummets, then he will simply leave the world. If Link should succeed, he gets back his mask, and leaves anyways.

But also, in both games, he seems to live by his own rules, and his rules alone. Who in their right mind would open a mask store that "doesnt" sell masks, but instead "trades" masks? Who has the power to cure people by turning their curse into masks? He is a cheshire cat, as it were: being slightly omnipotent and perhaps endless in power.

His emotion also seems to show his overall chaotic state of being. He is instantly smitten by rage or fear, but also instantly gleeful and optimistic.

...As for the other things, I think we have that pretty set in stone.

What alignement would be the flying whale from LA?

I don't remember much of the game, but I like flying whales.

What about character groups like the Gorons or the Zora?

I suppose the Gorons would fall under Chaotic Neutral while the Zora are Lawful Neutral?

The Gorons are pretty lawful in my opinion. They are led by a patriarch and elders, all of which hold respect for the land and the people.

Ahhhaha that's a mistype on my part. I was reading about Chaotic Neutral. Lawful Neutral sounds much more fitting to these golem creatures.

I think if you're going for an alignment for the Triforce, it needs to be chaotic neutral. All you have to do is touch it once and the entire world is either screwed over or blissful harmony.
